Leaders need to be special. Telling someone what they want to hear so you can be popular is not leading..it's pandering. 
If popularity,politacl donations, raw power are the goals of a person who pretends to be a leader ,then the result will be disastrous for everyone.
It is the role of all others to hold "leaders " accountable to facts and basic social norms:tolerance, empathy,equality.

everything that's decent is pushed to the brink

when facts are ignored and replaced by beliefs and religion distorts God's holy words
then books will burn
innocents accused  and then rounded up to be killed and abused
without a blush on one single cheek

rubbing your eyes from the smoke
wringing your hands from the guilt

how could this happen?
what did we do?

Long Live Life

Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday of your choice(s)!! Most of what few holiday songs I have done, I have put an unexpected twist in the middle. For example, Valentines day I did an ambient candy outer shell with a chewy jazzy center. Or last Christmas, I did a song called Bipolar Charlie (Brown) which took a happy Peanuts song and made it dark in the middle in an unexpected turn of events. Here's this holiday's take with a twist on the old classic; "Oh Christmas Tree".
