There were shadows on the sundial,  
Growing longer every spring,  
Tiny boots by the doorway,  
Now quiet like a bird with folded wings.  
Echoes of their laughter

But the clocks keep steady breathing,

Drawn by skies they’ve never known,

Guiding by the dimming light  
Of a once-familiar star.

There’s a coat left on the railing,  
And a name etched in the frost,  
Pages turned in quiet silence  
Where no stories have been lost.  
The door still opens softly,  
Though no footsteps follow through,  
Even absence has its colour,  
And the silence carries you.
