James Bracken cut his teeth as a sideman lending his soulful vibrato and rhythm playing to Ian Hilmer’s Stagefright, an alternative string band from southern MN. The band performed extensively regionally, steadily gaining grassroots momentum circulating live bootlegs but never releasing an album, which ultimately ended the band and each of the members went on to front their own project.  

Several hundred bar gigs later a fortuitous connection with Rochester producer Fires of Denmark led to a productive series of recording sessions documenting Bracken’s expansive catalog and tracking a brand new batch of songs set to be released as Echo Messenger.

On 26 June 2024, Bristol-based contemporary folk project Fritillaries will release Thank God I Have The Songs (Cuculi Records), launching a new era for songwriter Hannah Pawson as a solo artist. Following widespread praise for her self-titled debut album in 2022, including Folk Radio’s Album of the Month and a nomination for FATEA’s Debut Album of the Year, this highly anticipated second release was recorded in collaboration with producer Rowan Elliott (Tamsin Elliott & Tarek Elazhary/Hands of the Heron) at The Roost in Bristol.

literally f*(ked up and killed him... so... that's what this is about
they've done a "review" and "acknowledged" fault without attributing blame
poorly trained... negligent... lazy... stupid... hung over... 
it really doesn't matter which...
all they had to do was do their job that day... not perfectly... just satisfactorily... and my friend's husband would be alive today
they killed him... nothing can make it right
as my friend is now constricted by her grief.. i attempt to be her voice.... through this track
not that it will likely change anything in the system that can kill with incompetent impunity....
