Summer is slowly but surely coming to an end and the nights are getting longer again. What could be more fitting than an EP called Night Shades? Responsible for this is Berlin artist Jiggler, one half of former Bar 25 favourite Channel X. He has been causing a stir with his solo project for many years, including releases on Stil vor Talent and Katermukke. The first track, Night Shades, which shares its name with the EP, captivates with its driving groove and wonderfully dreamy yet uplifting lead synth. With the second original, Voyager, the journey through the night continues seamlessly, albeit in a more rousing and darker way. Jiggler is supported by a total of three artists with their own interpretations of the originals: Richard Elcox, the Scottish Berliner by choice, who was already playing around with his brother's Korg MS-20 at the age of 11 and the well-known Matija and Contenance here in Zurich. The former has been part of the local scene for over three decades, the latter is well on his way to emulating Matija.

‘Rituals’ is the piece that begins the ceremony. Showcasing his versatility and skills, Doanro immerses us in a mystical and mysterious world. Rumbling percussion and a catchy melody adorn an energetic and compelling rhythm. An imposing voice delivers the sermon before spiritual ecstasy.

The artwork depicts a surreal landscape where a melting clock floats beneath a globe, surrounded by watchful eyes in the sky and twisted trees that suggest decay. On the ground, hooded figures perform a ritual around an organic table covered in candles, while time itself seems to dissolve above them. The scene conveys the fragility of time, the presence of unseen forces, and humanity’s quest for meaning through the sacred and symbolic.
