Qtier is Adam and Howard, two London-based electronic musicians who make beautiful, captivating music for the city. Having announced their arrival earlier this year with the massive Still EP, now they’re back with The Cards, a stunning collection of tracks set for release on BPitch Control, the prestigious Berlin electronic label responsible for releases from Apparat, Modeselektor and it’s esteemed label boss Ellen Allien.  For Qtier, The Cards EP is about control, adoration and perception, all viewed through the prism of what electronic music means to them.

It’s the collision of Adam’s breathtaking, tender vocals, and Howard’s forward thinking electronics that makes this outfit’s sound so remarkable. With both members coming from such diverse musical places, the marriage of their differences creates a unique union of genuine, heartfelt songwriting with exceptional production.  The first offering from Qtier became an instant sensation, with big support coming from BBC 6 Music, The Fly and XFM, marking them out as a band on the verge of something very special.

Adding drums to the live line-up, their first ever outing was a mesmerizing performance at a now infamous house party in South London. Since then, 2013 saw the band have play to packed crowds at a string of unusual spaces; receiving lavish praise from Time Out for their masterful live interpretations of their studio productions.

Landside - Still There (Max Cooper Remix)

February 2008 and Earth has left.  Veiran and Bongo are exploring some new ideas for next album.  They know that there needs to be some change in the underlying feel in the music but they are not there yet.  This demo number 113 later became the basis for the track Add this song.

Working towards the 24/7 album in 2007 to 2009 it was clear that the new album would be change in feel.  Earth as just left and Daniel was on the sideline ready to participate if needed. For the first part of our Split Series „Hamburg“ the Hamburg based Band Me Succeeds made a remake of Arp Auberts „Actress“. In Return Arp Aubert, consisting of Mirau Label founder Stephan Lorenz, made a beautiful, dreamy remix for Me Succeeds „Riemerling“. Now the remixing goes on in full album length: After their latest long player „Rongorongo“ from 2011, which Me Succeeds released on their own imprint isawmusic, the band will return on Ki Records with a remix album. Eleven friends were invited to put their hands on the album’s tracks and give their interpretation. Besides a whole lot of danceable tracks you will also find some broken beats and spherical electronica here, which makes this release fit in perfectly in the Ki catalogue. Under the motto „never change a running system“ of course Arp Aubert once again had his hands on one of the tracks, turning „Rongorongo“ into a driving techno track which is underlined by the emotional vocals of lead-singer Mohna and beautiful melodies making this remix perfect for the early hours on the dancefloor. The Berlin based producer and DJ Iron Curtis gives the original of “Seventeen” a dubby note that is definitely special as he uses many vintage synthesizers-sounds and broken pieces of the original vocals to make this remix one of the strongest on this album. The last remix on the album was done by Greek musician Chronik, who turns „Books“ into a hymn with twisted rhythm and broken beats. It’s the perfect ending reminding us a lot of the recently on Ki released „Saints“ by Monokle. Apart from that, a few more great producers such as Tilmann Tausendfreund, Showing Off The Bling Bling, Christian Löffler, On Stop Off, My First Trumpet, Bug Lover and Suburb contributed to this Rongosium."

BIO:
The Icelandic band Gus Gus originally spawned from a shortcut made by Siggi Kjartansson and Stefán Árni (a.k.a. Arni & Kinski) called “Pleasure”. Initially the band was acclaimed as an avant-garde collective of musicians, producers, filmmakers and performers. They mixed together different mediums to create a unique mixture of sound and vision. Their trademark style is combined with funky bass, streamlined synths and the intelligent use of technology and art. Árni & Kinski did the visual part and the musical side was driven by Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Veiran), Stephan Stephenssen (a.k.a President Bongo), Magnús Guðmundsson (a.k.a. Herb Legowitz). The live band was fronted by singers Daníel Ágúst, Hafdís Huld and Magnús Jónsson (a.k.a. Blake).

Gus Gus is an electronic soul band formed in 1995. A short break in a making of the shortcut made it possible for the first Gus Gus self-titled album to be born. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album “Polydistortion”. "This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally "Gus Gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus Gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up. Six original members left and the three remaining producers (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) soon found hope in a new female singer, Earth aka Urður Hákonardóttir. The band has ever since focused on being a musical entity. 

In 2002 Gus Gus re-appeared with their 4th studio album "Attention" which includes their most successful dance floor hit “David”. On the album the band teamed up with the legendary producer Gareth Jones and Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor. The album demonstrates a sharply focused club-band full of creativity and even more energetic than ever. Daníel Ágúst
