Well, there are always some ideas that get stacked under by newer ones.  Here is one exploring some tonal transitions from 2010 that i just stumbled on today.  Oculus our friend did some of the beats in this.

After the departure of Earth on 31.12.2007, Gusgus was in a limbo again.  This was the second time the front of the band evaporated leaving the producers with the decision what to do with the brand.  Some artistic turn in style was at least needed to justify continuation.  Stylesploration and the rejoin of Daníel brought us the album 24/7 year and a half later.  Loads of demos remain unused from this transition.  This is one of them, recorded in March 2008.

Exactly year ago our dear friend Aaron-Carl died of Cancer.  Founder of Wallshaker Music and one of Detroit legends his contribution to music is cheered around the globe.  When Gusgus was preparing their 6th album, later to be called 24/7,  Veiran and Bongo were in a no-creativity state of mind.  Veiran asked Bongo if he had any acappella to work with, so to get started some creativity.  Bongo when digging and came up with the acappella of Aaron-Carl track Hateful.  With the draft of the first track the path was set.  Later Hateful was released on the 24/7 album with Daniel Águst vocal.

Just before Daniel left the band in 2000 he and Biggi Veira had already made a demo of Desire.  When Daniel left and the more housy attitude emerged some attempt was to "house the track up".  That approach was soon abandoned and the original demo was worked towards the version commonly known on the Attention album.  Here is this house version for you to judge.

With the Attention album the feel of the whole band changed.  Some of the old fans liked it some not.  For us it was reinvention.  If you are stagnant you might already be dead.  Viva la Punk....

Your moves are mine (Live @ Airwaves 2003)

The track Deep Inside was the only track that did not emerge from the "Summer House sessions" in the winter of 2009.  The first version was done as one of many ideas for Earth's track "Why you Wanna" later to be released on Gong Ho Records.  As Earth selected some other solution to her track an instrumental version was dropped for later thoughts.  At one of Daniels visit to the studio we where searching through some demos to see if any could be of use.  We picked this one and did some further experiments with it, adding the base line for example.  Much later Högni arrived at the stage adding his bit. Here are both these version, the original instrumental and the version that came out of the "With Daniel" experiments.

More experiences from 200o when the band was bound to make new path musically due to the departure of all the singers and the lyrics writers.  Gusgus did not go down this progressive trans path but it has, however, lingered.

It’s been little over a year that we had a Deetron release on Music Man (his Depth Frame collab with Ripperton), but that doesn’t mean our fav Swiss was being lazy – at all. He became a proud dad, started his own club night in Bern, released big tracks on Rejected, Green and Circus Company and did remixes for Gerd, Romanthony, Joey Negro, Kraak & Smaak, Vakula and Ben Westbeech just to name a few. Now we’re proud to be able to present to you ‘Crave’, the first single of Deetron’s forthcoming album on Music Man, featuring Hercules & Love Affair. On remix duties are Jamie Jones (Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations) and Ripperton. Furthermore in the package you’ll find an instrumental version, and the ‘cRAVE Dub’, a full on techno rework of the original.

Wen doing one remix of Ladyshave in 1999, biggi veira asked Bongo to find his favorite drum and bass track and pitch it down from 45 to 33.3 to get the drums for the mix.  We then had Bongos ex girlfriend do a take on the vocal and added some synth shit.  Here is the result

In the year 2002, Gusgus was touring the states with the new lineup and album Attention.  One of the tracks in the set was though a cover of old Human League track called "Things that dreams are made of".  Not shure if we have any live recordings of it but here is the lave backup version we did in case of equipment breakdown.

BIO:
The Icelandic band Gus Gus originally spawned from a shortcut made by Siggi Kjartansson and Stefán Árni (a.k.a. Arni & Kinski) called “Pleasure”. Initially the band was acclaimed as an avant-garde collective of musicians, producers, filmmakers and performers. They mixed together different mediums to create a unique mixture of sound and vision. Their trademark style is combined with funky bass, streamlined synths and the intelligent use of technology and art. Árni & Kinski did the visual part and the musical side was driven by Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Veiran), Stephan Stephenssen (a.k.a President Bongo), Magnús Guðmundsson (a.k.a. Herb Legowitz). The live band was fronted by singers Daníel Ágúst, Hafdís Huld and Magnús Jónsson (a.k.a. Blake).

Gus Gus is an electronic soul band formed in 1995. A short break in a making of the shortcut made it possible for the first Gus Gus self-titled album to be born. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album “Polydistortion”. "This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally "Gus Gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus Gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up. Six original members left and the three remaining producers (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) soon found hope in a new female singer, Earth aka Urður Hákonardóttir. The band has ever since focused on being a musical entity. 

In 2002 Gus Gus re-appeared with their 4th studio album "Attention" which includes their most successful dance floor hit “David”. On the album the band teamed up with the legendary producer Gareth Jones and Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor. The album demonstrates a sharply focused club-band full of creativity and even more energetic than ever. Daníel Ágúst
