2020 was a year when we all needed beams of light at the end of the longest, darkest tunnel the world had found itself in decades. Instinctively, the Selador community rose to the challenge, none more so than Kiz Pattison & Micah, whose collaborative debut was a massive breakout tune from our Tenth Chapter showcase EP.

As DJ streams and dancing on impromptu dancefloors at home became the norm, Beam of Light became a regular feature in many a lockdown soundtrack, a major tune for the likes of Sasha, Anthony Pappa and of course our own directorship, Seaman & Parry. So with the vaccines arolling, club and festival dates being firmed up in our diaries and that beam of light seemingly growing brighter by the day, what better way to celebrate than with a top drawer remix package?

Booom! We are delighted to welcome Brazils techno don Renato Cohen back to Selador. Here he zeros in on the first of the original mixs killer hooks, the 80s styled motif that starts and ends the track, and builds an electro throbber that sounds like the Human League through a sparkling rave filter.

Oooof! Kiz & Micah then themselves deliver a new take, the 4am Dub, a darker, moodier interpretation of their original, showing off their deeper tendencies, like a big sister luring you over to the darker recesses of the dancefloor.

Pow! Long-time friend of Selador Robert Babicz, takes the hook from the originals showpiece drop and delivers a low slung breaks driven re-rub custom made for all you dubwise bass bin lurkers. And theres more its a Babicz double drop as he tenders an ambient mix that gives all those magical synth layers maximum room to breathe, gently building on the breeze.

Kerching! Were not finished yet! Its VFM time as Kiz and Micah deliver a brand new bonus track, the afroacidtechfunk workout that is The Key. Not to be missed, this beauty deserves its own moment in the spotlight, twisting and turning its way to instant earworm central.

And there you have it, the futuress so bright we gotta wear shades.

Let’s be honest, you knew that already when you saw the stellar names involved in our latest Reloads* release (*yes, it is an anagram of Selador), our occasional series of remixes of classic tracks from our catalogue. So, without any further ado, allow us to unveil two red hot re-rubs, both chomping at the bit to do damage on your dance floors in the coming weeks. 

Robert Babicz – Space Funk – Timo Maas remix

Next up, the much-revered Robert Babicz has been a mainstay of the Selador family from the very beginning, and last autumn he returned with the wonderfully diverse three track Space Funk EP, featuring the aptly named title track, a real cosmic beauty that was chilled to perfection.

Now, we are delighted to bring you a revamp courtesy of the one and only Timo Maas commissioned especially for this Reloads release. A long time club scene stalwart, Timo needs no introduction. Selective with his remix assignments these days, we were honoured he accepted our request and he delivered with aplomb, totally respecting the beautiful spirit of the original while firmly nudging it further onto the dance floor. A trippy, dreamlike interpretation, deep as the Mariana Trench.

*SELADOR PREMIERE* Robert Babicz - Space Funk (Timo Maas Remix)

Next up, we welcome Simos Tagias to the label with the 'Mantis EP'. 

A prolific producer, Simos Tagias has released with everyone from FSOE and UV to Replug and Mango Alley. Based in northern Greece, he made his breakthrough with Lynx Records a decade ago, and has gone on to create an enviable back catalogue with support across the progressive scene from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Cid Inc.  and more. 

Opening with lead track, 'Mantis', we are quickly swept up in Simos' epic soundscape. Dirty bass and gunshot stabs playfully work against shakers and sidechained pads growing the tension over time. Midway, new synthlines add meat to the bones of this chunky groover before the main break cools things off a touch. 

'Daydreamer' begins apace with gated bass and eerie atmospheres. Dark and moody, the sound design creates powerful mental images as the tracks takes hold. Closing the EP, the tribal rhythms of 'Breath' feel extra funky. Synth washes and sparse percussion give the track acres of space to breathe(!) creating a light breezy vibe. Solid work from one of the scene's unsung heroes.

Onedotsixtwo continues to strike whilst the Progressive House iron is well and truly molten hot. Our 27th release bears the fruit of a magical meeting of minds, namely Australian favourite Matter & Sri Lanka's Prince of Prog, Dimuth K, with their Road to Stanton Moor EP.

Matty and Dim deliver two absolute belters for this release. The lead track 'Road to Stanton Moor' is a deep and throbbing builder with tight percussion and eerie effects layers that float in and out of the track, as it rockets towards a momentous breakdown that's guaranteed to send any dancefloor (or, right now, living room) sideways.

The AA side 'Exhale' packs a progressive punch in equal measure, built around beautifully crafted synth lines and infectious melodies with some serious low end rigour for late night moments. Exhale made its debut at Woodstock 69 in 2019, grace a our old friend Hernan Cattaneo, and it's been that elusive 'ID-ID' ever since, popping up in numerous sets from Hernan and Nick Warren since last summer.
