The sperm whale uses echolocation and vocalization as loud as 230 decibels (re 1 µPa m) underwater. It has the largest brain on Earth, more than five times heavier than a human's. Sperm whales can live 70 years or more.

When echolocating, the sperm whale emits a directionally focused beam of broadband clicks. Clicks are generated by forcing air through a pair of phonic lips (also known as "monkey lips" or "museau de singe") at the front end of the nose, just below the blowhole. The sound then travels backwards along the length of the nose through the spermaceti organ. Most of the sound energy is then reflected off the frontal sac at the cranium and into the melon, whose lens-like structure focuses it. Some of the sound will reflect back into the spermaceti organ and back towards the front of the whale's nose, where it will be reflected through the spermaceti organ a third time. This back and forth reflection which happens on the scale of a few milliseconds creates a multi-pulse click structure. Because the interval between pulses of a sperm whale's click is related to the length of the sound producing organ, an individual whale's click is unique to that individual. However, if the whale matures and the size of the spermaceti organ increases, the tone of the whale's click will also change.[126] The lower jaw is the primary reception path for the echoes. A continuous fat-filled canal transmits received sounds to the inner ear.

A creak is a rapid series of high-frequency clicks that sounds somewhat like a creaky door hinge. It is typically used when homing in on prey.

A coda is a short pattern of 3 to 20 clicks that is used in social situations.

The sperm whale brain is the largest known of any modern or extinct animal, weighing on average about 7.8 kilograms (17 lb).

Plunging to 2,250 metres (7,382 ft), it is the third deepest diving mammal.

Spermaceti (sperm oil), from which the whale derives its name, was a prime target of the whaling industry, and was sought after for use in oil lamps, lubricants, and candles. Ambergris, a solid waxy waste product sometimes present in its digestive system, is still highly valued as a fixative in perfumes, among other uses.

Made this with one of my best friends last night. We have a very similar journey of self discovery thru 🎵music, and we seem to be happily syncing up at this moment in time. 

He recently lent me his keyboard while he is going thru some tuff💪 times, and i've been playing around on it a few min everyday, and it has drastically helped me in changing the story I tell my🧠self from, "I am not allowed to play on a keyboard", to, "why not have a few min of fun playing on my buddies keyboard".

So when he proposed the possibility of creating something he could share with his family at Christmas, as proof of breaking down his own mental barriers, I was excited to invest my #greese 💦 into creating something that would make a big impact in his universe. Thats what friends do ☺

So his dad used to play the flute by a river, and I used a sample from his fathers Ted Talk, the piano is him breaking thru his barriers by just playing on the keys to a meaningful Led Zeppelin break.

I had the pleasure of closing down the Unicorn Lounge after the most solid night of music I have had the opportunity to be apart of & to play! Big ups to  The WW Festival Crew, Sleazy Listening for bringing in that tasty sound and all the crazy folks getting down with me until Sun up! As a child I spent hours by myself playing on my grandfathers Casio synthesizer. I found it fascinating how different tones played in different patterns created different feelings. I begged my mother for a saxophone but she couldn’t afford one so I got a tiny plastic dollar store one instead. She told me if I mastered the plastic one I could get the real thing. It was months until I realized that she just couldn't afford it, so I sadly hung up the plastic saxophone. In Jr High, band class was too full for me to join. Because I missed the first year I wasn’t able to join for the rest of secondary school. This made me believe fate had prevented me from ever learning music and it just wasn’t meant for me. I held this belief my whole life, all while being deeply connected to and building a life around music.

It wasn't until my grandfather passed away and left me his Casio synthesizer that I was reminded of the pure curiosity and fascination driving me this whole time. So I challenged my beliefs and started to break down the barriers I had created. My experiments with music soon began to flow more easily and I started to produce pieces I was actually proud of. I now look at my lack of traditional training as what has kept my childlike wonder alive. When I sit down to produce music it is with a curiosity and wonder with how emotions and stories can be captured in a sequence of sounds. Without holding myself back I let myself have fun and give it the gustoe💦
