its about a loner flowing through the space (metaphor for street during dark). where all he can see are distant stars (street lights far, far away). he wanders through the space and can hear the sounds coming from distant cosmic entities, flowing towards the stars looking for some sign, he hopes to see someone at least to accompany him through his voyage.
in the end he is discovered by a figure that tells him
"he no longer is a stranger"

Parisian label Meant turns to Hugo Sanchez and Rodion in their Alien Alien guise, a little known side project that has released on their own label RoccoDisco and that has also featured on Get Physical back in 2012.

The two originals from Alien Alien come with remixes by Rodion in solo mode, plus Red Axes.

Alien Alien have in fact found lots of favour with the international queer community thanks to their ‘Sambaca’ tune, released on Berlin’s Slowmotion label, and ‘The Nights’, on San Fran outlet Discaire, both of which came with truly freaky videos.

‘One by One’ is the first track and it is a very poised and well-paced bit of lo-down disco funk. Searching synths spray across the face of the dark, rubbery track as a male vocal repeats the title’s refrain. It’s the sort of slo-mo chugger the ALFOS crews will love and is filled with menace despite being a sparse track overall.

Rodion then goes solo for a remix and in doing so layers in even more unsettling intergalactic synths and curious alien details. The groove, too, is made more rubbery and supple and really sweeps you up.

‘Soter’ then ups the ante a little with an arpeggiated bassline, crystalline synths and all sorts of weird and wonderful voices. It’s deep but direct and has a solid, chunky groove at its somewhat dystopian core.

The Red Axes remix is a more human and soulful affair with hip swinging claps, more arpeggiated lines and something of a classic jack feel to the raw drums.

This is a macho disco-tastic release from Meant that proves Alien Alien have many different sounds.

Following the adopted concept of addressing the 88 constellations cataloged by the International Astronomical Union, UniverseView arrives at EP 002, presenting the constellation Phoenix, and its brightest star ‘’Alpha’’

Myth: The Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth par excellence. In mythology, it was a bird of great beauty that lived for an extended period (about 500 years). The Phoenix is particularly known for its ability to rise from the ashes. It constructs a nest of fragrant branches and leaves, destined to be illuminated by the midday sun. Eventually, it is consumed by fire, but a small larva emerges from the ashes and rapidly transforms into a new Phoenix.

History: In ancient Egyptian art and on some Roman coins, pictorial representations of this miraculous bird were found. The constellation first appeared in Bayer’s work Uranometria in 1603. However, this idea dates back to ancient Chinese representations of a firebird known as Honeau. It is also part of a group of 12 modern constellations introduced by Dutch navigators Pieter Keyser and Frederick de Houtman, who mapped the southern hemisphere sky between 1595 and 1597.

This celestial figure is not very obvious, as it consists of rather faint stars. However, the brightest star (Alpha Phoenicis), also known as Ankaa, can be easily located. Ankaa is an orange giant star, situated just 77 light-years away from Earth. Its size indicates that it is an evolved star that has already left the main sequence, currently in the helium-burning phase in its core.
