In June 2014, Dustin Nantais further confirmed his status as a rapidly emerging talent, built upon a lifelong passion for music. It was through his "Ideologue" EP for Particles that Dustin showed his production class with a trio of tracks, full of mature sounding rhythm and melody, and it is with great pleasure that we now revisit the title track with a pair of fresh new remixes from two exciting talents from Australia and the USA.

From their homes bordering the US Great Lakes, Riverside Drive have hit the ground at a veritable sprint since bursting onto the deep house scene in May 2014. Comprised of the combined talents of Cleveland resident, Dan Stark, and Detroit inhabitant, Seth Yender, the pair has quickly seen their work rewarded with tangible success. Both their debut and sophomore releases found themselves within Beatport's Top 20 Deep House charts as, On The Triangle and Low Pressings have broadcast their talents to club goers. Stark in particular is no stranger to success. Since a debut in 2009, collaborative work with Dirty Vegas, Sultan and Ned Shepherd provide a blue chip portfolio that has also seen him DJ'ing at Los Angeles' famous Avalon, Chicago's Spy Bar and appearances at WMC.

Working their production skill on "Ideologue", Riverside Drive's remix is a deep, brooding affair full of haunting, reverb-drenched phrases and effects, cleverly echoing melodic themes from Dustin Nantais' original work. Heightened tension is further felt from a striking bass line note that ripples across the left-right soundstage in menacing fashion, allied to a thumping beat and exquisitely placed percussive hi-hats that provide dance floor urgency.

Located on Australia's eastern coast, the tropical climate of Cairns provides the basis for Maddy Hughes to traverse the choppy seas of modern dance music production. Using his FunkForm moniker with increasing success, Hughes has been an integral part of the Open Records talent roster since 2011 with his FunkForm modus operandi to take "influences from the whole gamut of the house and techno spectrum" and meld them into a "deep, groove-oriented" sound. With is his work in the last eighteen months reaching the roster of Stellar Fountain and his "Pressure System/Fuscia" EP, that of the legendary Vapour Recordings, FunkForm's success is evident for all to see.

Reworking "Ideologue", a delightful rolling groove is immediately evident as the FunkForm remix begins to take shape. Chugging hats tap out a syncopated rhythm and a rich sustained bass line gives an air of mature character and depth. Pulsating pads and shimmering melodies provide a further layer of texture and atmosphere, linking back to Nantais' work, before additional production creates a new melody from the sounds fundamental to the original.

With a pair of new remixes from Riverside Drive and FunkForm, Dustin Nantais' "Ideologue" still has far more to disseminate to the club-going masses.

This sensationally crafted four track EP perfectly cap- tures the dark melodic techno sound that Francys has grown so accustomed to. An ambient and atmospheric undertone accompanies and surrounds each production on the EP, which is perfectly captured by the opening track ‘Different Shapes’. This production is a perfect opener displaying Francys diverse and unique sound that is often trademarked and recognizable by the synth melodies that layer each production.

Combining crisp closed percussion and haunting de- layed synth keys; ‘Nibiru’ offers a more minimal techno sound to the EP, with the distorted snare and powerful kick drum layered under the track. The baseline remains ambient leaving Francys synth arrangement to draw in the listener and drive the production forward.

‘Arcenciel’ captivates the listener with a fusion of darkened piano riffs and chilling melodies. This track is a stand out production from the EP, a steady dramatic progression over eight minutes resulting in the track gradually fading out accompanied by an echoed synth.

Francys - Different Shapes

The Drumcode A-Sides compilation is quickly becoming synonymous within the techno world as a go to compilation for the hottest tracks that are deservedly A-side material in their own right. Each specific track has it own unique character that brings an outstanding and electrifying aspect to the compilation that as a whole makes it something extremely special. Mixing both highly experienced and new artists has helped to bring a new dimension to the compilation that makes it such a special array of tracks.

Alex Niggemann’s AEON label mirrors the peak time DJs sets that the supremely talented Berliner plays, staying focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless house and techno, updating it and creating new boundless possibilities for the future.

The teasing, tension-building energy of the super- smooth “Stellar”, bears all the hallmarks of an artist who is at the top of his game. Alex Niggemann is a master of capturing and encompassing elements of darkness, mystery and uplifting melancholic beauty in his subtle and spacious creations. There aren’t enough cutting- edge artists out there who are bold enough to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. “Asterism” steers an equally subtle melancholic path, before morphing into a stunning rollercoaster ride of a track, firing with exuberant, emotive energy and desire. To complete this package, “Asterism” is treated to a remix from the uninhibited perspectives of Belgium’s exceptional rising star and kindred spirit, Locked Groove.

For those people with open minds and open ears, electronic music doesn’t really have borders – blurring the boundaries between house and techno is a given – creativity and experimentation without restrictions and
expectations is what allows artists to make exceptional music that becomes timeless and treasured.

AEON references back to Alex Niggeman’s roots – the music which inspired him to start his career as a DJ and producer – and was created as a platform to release music that stands for quality and originality. Music that fits perfectly into peak-time sets, without being too obvious, without being just functional, with multiple musical dimensions. The “Stellar EP” is the next outstanding instalment.

“Man Worships Power” is the first in a small series of joint releases between Enemy Records and Emmanuel’s ARTS Records. Like rare split EPs from record labels in the past, each label takes control of one side of the vinyl for a double-sided release. With high mutual admiration between both labels, it was inevitable that a project like this was bound to happen. For this special occasion, we offer a full-sleeve cover with amazing photography from Sander Meisner.

On the first release, label owners Dustin Zahn and Emmanuel each picked two of their favorite tracks from each other. “Bark Like a Dog…” has already received regular play from Truncate and “Cargo” has been a secret weapon among DJs such as Zahn and Rodhad for the better part of a year.

‘Use Me Again’ is Tom Trago’s evergreen club classic. Originally released at the start of 2010 it became a staple track in many DJs sets.

The track is based around an infectious loop in true disco spirit and it lights up every dancefloor its been played to. The original version has been yet again re- mastered for this 2012 release.

Carl Craig has been one of the track’s biggest fans ever since it was first re- leased, at a certain point he was playing it out in almost every set. For this release he came up with a typical c2 re-tweak.
