The melody for this beat is what I made out of a sample sent to me by a producer called Javi, who thought it could work well as a collab. Because I use old hardware that’s the best way for me to do collabs, so if anyone plays music and ever wants to send me melodies feel free, I never know what’s going to inspire me and will make beats out of anything really, as long as the sample gives me ideas and motivation. As soon as I heard this sample I got mad ideas, it was about a minute long with a few different sections, some just piano and some piano, strings and other elements. The BPM of the sample was actually 138, but the way I chopped and flipped what I wanted to use changed that to 94.7, which is what I normally do with faster samples, and it’s always dope cause you end up making a completely new melody. To start I flipped the more ‘full melody’ with strings etc, and then filtered that to add my favourite piano chops on top. It was the sad vibe of the sample that really motivated me here, and I think by layering different melodies that helped add to the overall feel of the track which I was for sure happy with. 

I wasn’t sure if I was going to actually use this beat for a remix, but as soon as I’d finished it I knew the vibe was exactly what I was looking for to remix ‘Mad Izm’ by Channel Live and KRS-One. The last time I remixed this I used a super dark beat to add that twist to a track which is talking about getting waved ( https://soundcloud.com/tapeheadloops/sparkin-on-the-mic/s-CEHLwCs9LTw?ref=clipboard&p=a&c=1&utm_campaign=social_sharing&utm_medium=text&utm_source=clipboard ), and I knew that the next time I remixed it I wanted to go more for an emotional/sad vibe. Kind of like how I did with ‘Ladies’, where I wanted the beat to bring out the sadder side to what DOOM was talking about, I wanted the beat to do the same to the vocals and overall vibe of the song here. Very different to the Buckwild remix of this track, which has the complete opposite vibe, very happy and care free, so I thought it would be cool to completely flip that on it’s head for my remix.
