I think this works better than the one officially used on The Light at the End. Especially the first 30 seconds

I had to re-edit it, so I went back to the original file, remastering it from the ground up, as the mixing on the last version was a bit shoddy in places, and re-worked the whole thing. I think this should fit somewhat better, without any disjointed crossfades.

This took forever to do... Built the entire middle 8 section, repaired the resulting damaged drum track, restored the lost high end, and ran the whole thing through some light stereo filters...

So, Big Finish's 50th anniversary special brought a new version of the theme....
It's brilliant, but there were some serious timing and mixing issues, so I decided to create my own new arrangement based extensively on that version....

Doctor Who Classic Mix (Opening Theme)

I made this awhile back, and forgot to post it anywhere.

As the title says, I've combined the 1996 TV Movie orchestral theme with elements of the 1970's Tom Baker theme (plus some samples created by Danny Stewart from the original '63 theme for the opening section). 

The orchestral bits have been sped up to match the '70 theme's tempo, since I prefer the theme to play at its original speed. If anyone wants, I also have a version that sticks to the '96 tempo (which also has a slowed-down intro section as a result.)

Doctor Who Theme, DerbyDebney Mix (1970 vs. 1996)

I was aiming for a more dreamy sounding version of the "diamond logo" opening theme, to play up on the more epherial and psychidelic elements at play in the titles sequence.

Once again, this was made entirely in GarageBand, minus samples from the original Derbyshire theme (provided to me by Simon Bowser, or "Radiophonic Workshop Fan" on here.)

I have to give special thanks to my roommate, who suggested having the arpeggiated spangles transition into the middle-eight. That's what really makes the piece work, in my opinion.

Mist and Dreams - Atmospheric "Doctor Who Opening Title Theme" (1974) cover

I usually do more electronic versions of the theme, but this time I wanted to switch things up. I was really taken by Gwylock1's "Doctor Who Series 10 rough concept theme (Clear Mix)," and decided that I wanted to do a semi-cover of it. 

I say semi because I added a different drum track, and extended/played around with/beefed up the violin and acoustic guitar parts as well. I also added the hissing and "spangles" from the original theme, to get more of that Radiophonic sound in there. Besides that, I changed the arrangement to hue more closely to the Series 8 version (hence the jingle bells).
