This is my favorite thing I’ve ever done. Flight Facilities are especially important to me, being my first signed artist. I look up to them as tastemakers and creators. 

The remix release has been made even more special to me because of recent events. We lost a good friend whom I looked up to--Dan Fredinburg. This past weekend, we memorialized Dan in a series of very special ceremonies I am so grateful to have been a part of. It was my privilege to play this track out for the first time at the party Dan instructed us to have, should he not return.
This week, there was another earthquake in Nepal. They really need our help. We have launched the Dan Fredinburg Foundation and already raised $100k. It only made sense that while I put effort into spreading awareness for my remix, I use that energy to help the causes that are really occupying my mind and heart--rebuilding Nepal and #LiveDan.

so here it is: our Turmbühnen set. It was something truly special for us to play there. We have been dancing and celebrating there for many many years in the past as guests, even when we started doing music together as umami.
Some of you asked why we didn’t sing live or played so few umami songs. Thats because it was a DJ set and not a live set! Besides, we wanted to play a little different than normally and combine our current style with the way the Turmbühne sounded back when we started to be there.
So a big thank you to everybody who was there and shared this moment with us!

PS There was a misunderstanding between us and the soundguy at the end of the set. We cut that part out because it is annoying to listen to :)

"Everything was better in the old days" has always been questionable. Music-wise we have seen major developments across the genres from the eighties until today. One track that defnitely ruled the clubs in the early years was Transform's "Transformation". Justifably considered an absolute cult hit, it seemed reasonable to see if a contemporary remix of such a classic could turn today's dancefoors upside down just as well as original did in the past. And hear for yourselves, it can! 
The original with its raw, puristic and light-footed vibe, spiced up with a hypnotic acid line and topped off with its famous vocal snippet that burned itself into the minds of millions of ravers in the glorious 90s, can certainly be labeled "timeless". Consequently the choice of remixer could hardly been more suitable with a guy who is responsible for a number of timeless classics such as "Hale Bopp" and "Electric Friends" himself. We are talking about "Der Dritte Raum" of course. 
Andreas Krueger aka "Der Dritte Raum" takes "Transformation" into the 21st century in the tried and tested way that we've always known and respected this gentleman for: hypnotic, driving and incredibly sophisticated. This remix honors the original and promises to become a hit itself. We are excited for this overdue comeback. Welcome to the future.

This first Spirit Train experience of ours was actually 3 years in the making and, as fate would have it, from every perspective, all the elements came together to make it pure magic.

As Burn virgins, we arrived wide-eyed and bushy tailed, finally, getting to lay eyes (and ears) on the beast that is LOBO (what a beautiful creature it is).

When stepping aboard knew we were home.

The (relatively) warm, windless night and even the delays in operations on the Wednesday, all seemed to play in our favour. A later start in the small hours of Thursday morning meant meeting the challenge of keeping the light-dancers entertained and lift their energy or risk losing them to the darkness of the night (and sleep).

LUPIS and LOBO, arranged to work in unison to encapsulate and mesmerize in invisible amphitheater, demanded it.

Musically our intent was to merge our personal tastes and do our best to fill the playa with sound. Having its tendrils reach out and, hopefully, draw people towards the light.

On a personal level, as DJs and a couple, this set was all the more poignant. Life and travels mean that this will likely have been the last of our infamous back2back sets.

So we wanted to go out with a bang...

When the sound engineer came up and whispered that he was entrusting us with "all the headroom" and we saw the hard-working Spirit Train crew squeezing the last of their juice to have a little sesh and the countless, dusty smiles getting their rave on, we realised, with great gratitude and humility, that we would share in a priceless magical moment, one that marked a new experience for us and also a perfectly fitting send off and end of an era.

We hope this mix continues to bring as much joy as it did out on the playa.

Disrupting the ebb and flow of an often-stale breed of musical neophytes lands Troy Kurtz as the cut above the fray. Having never been married to a particular genre or niche, he has the freedom to rely on his consummate taste to expertly serenade whichever circumstance he finds himself in. 

He cut his teeth in Miami where he was on demand for the busy nightclub circuit. Troy was frequently called on as direct support for headliners like Danny Daze, Luciano, and Richie Hawtin . He was a resident at the renowned and now defunct venues Bardot, Grand Central, and Electric Pickle. He launched the legendary Slap & Tickle party at the Electric Pickle which would later be awarded by the Miami New Times as the best party in the city, but it was time to reach new heights and a relocation to Los Angeles was in order. 

Tackling the sprawl of LA was no challenge, and in a short while Troy had successfully played the city’s greatest clubs from Sound and Exchange, to the Downtown warehouse raves, to daytime discos at rooftop pools. His appeal was growing, and international offers saw him play in London, Barcelona, Bali, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. 

Wanting new challenges, he leaned on his esteemed knowledge of the musical zeitgeist which led him to consult and work for music industry titans Insomniac and Red Bull for the last few years, but in 2019 Troy has been re-discovering his passion for music making and record selecting, and was most recently called upon by Coachella to play their speak-easy Disco club inside the festival. In late 2019, Troy played Secret Project in Los Angeles. Sharing the decks with some of the most acclaimed artists in dance music; BEN UFO, DJ Tennis, Gerd Janson, and Jayda G. 

Drawing on his love for italo-disco, house, techno and electro, his arsenal of new music is transcendent and multi-faceted. With ten years of experience, Troy’s unique sound is unparalleled.
