Cortés & The Crown is a Post-Punk / Garage Rock project that brings a mainly independent, romantic and disbelieving aesthetic to Spanish.
While his debut album ("Crímenes de Amor") is a tongue-in-cheek tale of "serial killer" confessions and remorse that sways between Garage Rock, Pop Noir and Synth Rock, and his second effort ("Beatitud") is a compendium of art noise and Post Punk heavily influenced by The Jesus & Mary Chain and the Shoegazer sound, Cortés returns with a less experimental and more direct sound with the song "Malicia" (A nod to Lewis Carrol's Alice.)
This is Guitar Rock in essence. A riff-driven song influenced by the early sound of "The Damned" and "The Saints." It tells a horror story through cinematic lyrics and '90s grunge-style melodies. It could very well be a cross between "Train Kept a Rollin'" by the Yardbirds and "New Rose" by The Damned.
