Jani Ho Live | Machine Made Techno & Electro Live | Tilt Shift Tuesday 11th Feb 2025

Jani Ho, born in Finland, has lived a life surrounded by music. Moving to New York when he was 12, and then to Melbourne when he was 20, Jani has taken in a wide range of experiences and influences to create his sound, machine music with soul. Firmly influenced by Detroit the city as well as its rich music, Jani’s live sets are built for the dance floor. Every set is unique, with fresh material constantly being produced, alongside a very improvisational live, all-hardware performance style. Holding dj residencies at various times in Switzerland, Thailand and Australia, performing throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. Culminating in a series of stellar live shows in 2014, 2016 and 2018 over the Movement festival in city of techno's birthplace, Detroit.


Jani has also performed alongside artists including Underground Resistance, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, HMC, Detroit Techno Militia, Will Web, Steve Rachmad and many many more, as well as a huge list of Melbourne parties for the last two decades.
2020 pandemic saw Jani release a new album Jika Jika, which has had global recognition and support from artist like Ken Ishi, Orlando Voorn, Gayteck Parisiano, Radio Slave, to name a few. Late 2020 Jani made his debut release on a legendary Detroit label, Soiree Records International with well-earned support from artist such as Laurent Garnier, Drumcell, Radioslave, Orlando Vorn, Deetron, Maceo Plex among others. Followed by another release on Soiree in 2022. Detroit Underground released, Jani Ho “Buljl Place”, a live hardware composition at Bunjil art space recorded during the pandemic and also in 2022. New releases coming out this year...The machine soul has no plans of slowing down.

General Midi, or Paul Crossman, who also performed under the name Fluid, came out of the Bristol club scene, making a splash when he became resident DJ at the Shimmy Club in 1994. His mix of breakbeat with nu-skool, electronica, house, and hip-hop made him a popular act.

Emerging from the backrooms of the Bristol Club scene his slick DJ ability and an ear for a great tune gave him regular appearances at breaks hotspots across the planet such as Fabric, Chew The Fat, Blow Pop, Sounds On Sundays (Sydney), Two Tribes (Australia), Zouk (Singapore), Budapest, all across the USA, Hungary, Spain, Serbia, China and Hong Kong. Teaming up with production partner Eelz, General Midi has been responsible for some of the most genre defining tunes in ‘The Westoner’ (’99) ‘Daft Funk’ (’01) ‘Further’ (’03) & ‘You will Be Under’ (’03), ‘Entertainer’ (’04), ‘Bass Rockerz’ (’04) & ‘House of Funk’ (’05).

General Midi’s singles have been released on some of the most respected breaks labels of the time, including TCR (Rennie Pilgrims label) & Kilowatt (Hyper’s label). In 1999 he released his single “The Westerner,” followed two years later by “Daft Funk,” the same year that his first full-length release, Genetically Modified. All of this has led to his debut artist album ‘Midi Style’ which was released on Distinct’ive Records in 2005. In 2009 he released his follow up album ‘Operation Overdrive’.

Paul Crossman also worked with writing partner and audio engineer Al Watson in the duo act called “Starecase”.

Currently Paul Crossman works as as a Teacher of Computing at Lampton School, London UK.
