Inge Weatherhead Breistein is a jazz saxophonist, electronic musician and composer from Bergen, Norway. He works with various kinds of electronic music and jazz, and often mixes these two together. “Flying high collage” is no exception and the name reflects on how the album was made. All 7 compositions contain sampling, electronic processing and transformation of material taken from pianist Norvald Dahl's piano solo release "Flying High". In addition to this Inge also uses saxophones in the project, both for sampling, melodies and solos/improvised performance. Everything you hear on the album is made out of these two sound sources.

Refraction

The compositions on 'Flyt' (Norwegian for flux, flow or float) are based on water-derived sound sources. From dripping and running water, to snow and ice. Although the raw sound material is often heavily manipulated to the unrecognizable, I've also tried to capture situations where the water sounds could inspire to musical ideas, such as rhythmic patterns in rainfall, melodic patterns in brooks, or textures in water pipes and kitchen sinks. Like water, the music varies from dark and mysterious, to bright and playful. From crisp atonal noise to lush ambient harmonies.
