Here we are gathering,
Thirsting and hungering,
None of us worthy,
But still we receive
This simple supper and
Sign of our unity;
Deep in formality
Jesus we see:

Sharing the bread,
I remember His offering;
Battered and wounded,
His body is there.
Then, in the breaking,
I’m causing His suffering;
It was my sinning
That brought His despair.

I can see His New Covenant,
