HADMA'OT – THE TEARS


  The Israeli band “HaDma’ot” (The Tears) was founded in 2011, and is the brainchild of Afik Peleg, singer and songwriter.   Original members were accordionist Vitaly Podolsky who was responsible for arrangements and violinist Tomer Moked.  

     The trio surprised their audiences with an original and refreshing take on Chanson style music, with a Gipsy tuch, full of biting lyrics, wicked solos and theatrical drama.  The music was intriguing, exciting and full of humor.  They started performing at various Tel Aviv venues (Café Bialik, Ozen Bar, Tmuna) with lots of success and media attention,  eventually releasing their first single, “Chatul Meyalel” (Wailing Cat) at a festive performance at Tel Aviv’s venerable “Barby” club.   The band appeared twice at the “Indy Negev” festival and at Israel’s “Southern Film Festival” and received much critical acclaim.  They also appear in a short film (Diamond Necklace on a Rat’s Neck) directed by Avivit Meirson Eyal with Israeli Actor Yehuda Barkan – the film will soon be screened at the various Cinematek Theaters and is entered at major film festivals in Israel and around the world.

      At the end of 2012, Vitaly, the accordionist, left the band, and was replaced by Tomer Salem.  Afik added contrabassist Elad Muskatel (The Apples)  and Doron Refaeli (Tararam) on drums,  percussion and vocals.  Meanwhile, Tomer the violinist moved his base of operations to Europe and to replace him, Afik found Yonatan Miller (of legendary TV show Hoppa Hey) who has recently joined the band with his interesting arsenal of weapons (violin, mandolin, harmonica, clarinet, vocals and more) and joyous creativity.
  The band recently completed a series of rehearsals for their new show  and have started to perform at small venues around Israel.   they recorded their 1st  album on October 2013 .  soon will be relist,   Let the tears flow!!
