It gives us great pleasure to welcome Cersy into our long-running mix series, DETECT.

A secret only to London, Cersy has been very much at the forefront of the North West’s new cultural tidal wave since the turn of the decade, becoming a near-mainstay on line-ups across Liverpool & Manchester.

Part of a new generation of artists that emerged from the ashes of the world’s extended hiatus, the @ Cella Door resident leaves genre boundaries of old lying in the dust, amalgamating breaks, electro, techno & punk into one carefully curated bass-directed sound.

To anyone outside the M25, all this will come as no surprise - the only shock will be how long it took London to notice.

I think this is my longest set to date (excluding the Marsh & Cats streams). It certainly didn’t feel like 7 hours - it went by in a blur. Thanks to everyone who came along for the journey, it meant the world to me to see many of you arrive early and stay until the very last song - Definitely one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever played! The tenth edition of the Early Morning label stands as both a milestone and a statement of intent. In just a single year, its founder has reshaped the underground dance music landscape with a catalog that redefined the possibilities of the genre. This latest release features two new pieces that together form a tightly woven conceptual work spanning nearly seventeen minutes.

Guy J has built his reputation on reinvention. Each release feels less like a continuation of his past and more like a step into uncharted terrain. On the opening track, Worlds Apart, he fuses an emotive core with intricate sound design and spatial experimentation, leading listeners into liminal states where consciousness and subconsciousness blur. Despite its cerebral qualities, the piece never loses its pulse, the steady momentum that keeps it firmly anchored to the dancefloor.

True to the label’s name, this is music designed for dawn, for moments of release after a long night, for embraces on crowded floors, for the intangible bonds that form through shared experience.

The second track, Surreal, pushes further into abstraction. While echoes of early trance, a genre that shaped Guy J during his formative years, are evident, the piece reframes those influences through a progressive, hypnotic, and technologically refined lens. It is this ability to blend memory with innovation that distinguishes Guy J from his peers, offering listeners not just music but a reimagined space in which sound itself becomes an act of discovery.

I came to the conclusion that I would be pretty terrible at writing a biography, especially one in the third person. Therefore, I will keep this short and sweet: 

My name is Behruz and I love dance music! I DJ at Gatecrasher Nottingham and Escucha. I also run a podcast (with my partner in crime David Williams) called Digital Symphony and do guestmixes for Electronic Inner Circle. 

I really enjoy harmonic mixing and my mixes contain tracks ranging from deep house to trance! I guess it is probably easier to just listen to my mixes rather than read about them so I will leave it at that...
