Biography:
Born in the sixties, Maarten has been a music lover since the early days of Queen. At the age of 16 he picked up his first guitar and learned playing by practising "Unleashed in the East", "Rainbow on stage" and "Strangers in the night". Bored with the blues he started listening to fusion and progrock, exploring his natural instinct for odd-time signatures and multi-timbral chord progressions.
After a time off from music when he was living in the Middle East area, he followed courses that  explained what he has always been doing instinctively. By that time he threw off the constraints that he was burdened with while growing up and he considered himself good enough to play for an audience. Being very flexible, that differs from sheer progressive metal as he did with Synergy Protocol, up to all sorts of dance music, but also with 70'ies and 80'ies cover bands.
Nowadays his trademark is his ease of playing and a very distinctive sound, more than being a virtuoso per se.

Writing music, arranging and playing is what keeps the man going. All over this page there are examples of his music that he is actually very proud of. Not the best singer ever, not the best guitarist ever, not the best recordings ever, but a wide diversity of styles with plenty of detail for nice melodies, lots of backing vocals and some proper guitar stuff.
