999999999 is an abstract concept from the minds of two people who do not feel the need to define it. It is spontaneous, random, unlimited. This project, officially started in July 2016, has already affected several important Clubs and Parties in different cities in Europe and aroused much interest even outside the continent. First two releases on their label "Nine Times Nine" and the most recent appearance on Planet Rhythm special "303" vinyl release were immediately sold out after few hours. Live is what they are whether in or out of the studio, they are spontaneous. Improvisation with hardware is the key element of their performance and is impossible to replicate.

If you want to trace the beginnings of DJ Pete's status in Techno culture, you have to go back a very long way. He emerged as a DJ in the pioneering days of the Berlin scene during the late 80s and joined Hard Wax in 1991, which now makes him the longest serving staff member of the legendary record store.
As a producer he made his name with the first release on Chain Reaction in 1995, a sub-label of the Basic Channel imprint, together with René Löwe aka Vainqueur as Scion. Scion also released the first commercially available CD ever produced with the then newly developed software Ableton Live in 2002 and later continued their collaboration as Substance & Vainqueur on the label Scion Versions. Substance, the acclaimed alias DJ Pete uses for his own productions has a back catalogue of highly influential solo efforts and an impressive string of acclaimed remixes for pivotal Techno artists like Juan Atkins, Regis, Kessell, Orphx, Robert Hood, Rhythm & Sound, Monolake or Shed, among many others.
DJ Pete earned similar respect behind the decks, combining highly individual yet refined mixing skills with both his vast encyclopedic knowledge of Techno history and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds that carry the potential to push all boundaries. Beyond that his energetic sets also incorporate elements of pure Techno, the Hard Wax tradition and powerful House tracks. His seemingly unlimited scope is informed by frequent Dynamic Tension nights at Tresor in the late 90s with Surgeon and his residency at Berghain since its opening, as well as countless successful gigs at the most crucial nights of the scene's international circuit. He is also known to merge Techno with Dubstep and selecting Reggae, particularly while working the mighty Killasan sound system as core DJ member of the seminal Wax Treatment events.
DJ Pete's lauded signature style also benefits from his numerous experiences as part of the cherished live acts TR-101 (an improvisational live act in collaboration with Sleeparchive), Scion (either with or without vocalist Paul St. Hilaire), and gigs with many other likeminded DJ innovators. A typical DJ Pete performance is always delivering an array of programming, sequencing, layering and live effects that goes well beyond a mere presentation of tracks. True to Techno's original claim, innovations in sound and technology are intuitively employed to achieve a floor sensation that manages to involve the crowd on as many levels as possible.

Parallx, born and raised in the dirty industrial landscapes of the Ruhr metropolis in West Germany and based in Berlin since 2010, belongs to the new rising techno generation. His EBM- , Industrial- and 90’s Techno inspired productions are despite its rough power on the dance floor, finely designed down to the smallest detail.  In 2017 Parallx released his first Records on Kobosil’s imprint R - Label Group as well as on Arts and was voted #3 Newcomer of the Year by the readers of Groove Magazine.  His versatile DJ sets, who stand out through the mix of powerful 2000s techno and EBM, as well as his excursion into Darkwave, Synth Pop and Electro, opened him the door to the legendary club Berghain and other clubs all over Europe.

Born into an artistic and musical family in Chicago, Juana’s passion for music began early in childhood with the sound of her dad’s guitar, a gifted record from her mother, local rock radio stations and wedding reception dances. Turning this early enthusiasm for dance music into a full-time job, Juana now moves and inspires others through genre-hopping DJ sets driven by powerful acapellas, original edits and unique blends. Since moving to Washington, DC 15 years ago, Juana has found a home for her ecstatic sets, drawing the attention and admiration of both local dancers and international promoters. A fixture in the DC electronic scene, Juana delivers dance music with contagious energy, often closing out nights for more well-known, European headliners. As part of the SEQUENCE underground collective of DC-based DJs and promoters, she can be found on the roster at any one their weekly parties around the city. In addition to her involvement with the local nightlife scene, Juana is part of the growing and impactful DISCWOMAN roster, and has recently taken her thrilling sets to more international dancefloors. Despite her growing profile, Juana remains one of the most kind and humble in the business, content to focus on sharing her lifelong love of music with others. Her Truancy Volume for us epitomizes that sentiment, and is a warm embrace of a mix that is sure to have you dancing. In the following interview, we talk about her early musical experiences, current influences, creative outlets, production methods, the state of the DC scene and her upcoming summer plans.

Honing her skills as DJ in Birmingham since the late 90s, Rebekah's hard work and pursuit of music has led her to reach a level representative of many DJs at the top of their game. She's become a colossal presence within techno the last five years, with her formidable sets and relentless sound capturing the hearts of four-by-four lovers looking for BPMs in the upper echelon of the genre. As a producer, she's asserted herself with countless releases since her first 12-inch in 2004, putting out heavy hitter after heavy hitter on labels such as Cult Figures, CLR, Soma Records and more recently Mord. Her debut album from last year Fear Paralysis showed a welcome constraint to her sound, describing the LP as a labour of love in times of uncertainty, and using that to explore elements to her music more thoroughly, and with more depth.

Now based in Berlin, she's found a close friendship with fellow local Paula Temple, sharing a similar outlook to techno and taking it to the stage together for a series of b2b shows and tour dates that now seem more regular than ever. We caught up with Rebekah to talk about the Elements project she runs with Dark Chamber and Jay Sirrett, discovering techno producers from New Dehli, and working with artist Malika Maria for her audio visual work. Her Truancy Volume, which she describes as a mix of old and new discoveries, is an hour long excursion of exhilarating, warehouse techno that's she's now known for championing.

Ahead of his debut EP on @Soma, we invite Magna Pia on the latest Slam Radio episode. Hüseyin Evirgen is a composer, producer and DJ. He is one half of Cassegrain as well as works on his own solo material as Magna Pia since 2016. He studied composition, piano and electronic music at the University of Istanbul and Mozarteum Salzburg. He has composed music for theatre, dance performances and mixed media for almost two decades. After meeting Alex Tsiridis at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2008, they formed the techno duo
“Cassegrain”. Since their first release on Mikrowave in 2010, they have worked with a variety of labels such as infrastructure NY, Prologue, Killekill, Ostgut Ton, Counterchange and Semantica. In 2016 they formed their own imprint called “Arcing Seas”, which is now home to both collaborative work as Cassegrain, solo projects as well as guest artists.  As Magna Pia, Hüseyin Evirgen focuses on providing combative dance floor trips and unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references while he keeps his interest in combining contemporary techno music with archaic symbolism.

Although he resides within the picturesque and beautiful foothills of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, Joe Farr’s style of techno is anything but beautiful. His brash, confrontational, and raucous approach towards techno production and DJing has distinguished him as an unstoppable tour-de-force within the worldwide techno scene.

Over the past 5 years he has churned out countless top-notch releases on a variety of renowned labels such as Turbo, Bloc, User Experience, and the Belfast-based record label ‘DSNT’ – of which Resident Advisor quotes as being “Comically Hard” – setting the stage for the sort of explosive sounds that have become a staple of Joe Farr’s work.

After an incredible CLOSE Tour in Paris, Glasgow and London we are leading into another crazy week, the annual Amsterdam ADE conference.  This year is a special one for me as I’ll be doing a special extended set on Friday October 19th  for Loveland's new All-Nighters concept at Warehouse Houthavens, which gives me plenty of time to weave in and out of lots of special sounds, frequencies and rhythms.  To get you through the week here is the recording of my BPM festival set from just a few weeks ago, which will surely get you in the mood and give you a taste of what to expect on Friday night!
