The inimitable T. Williams and James Jacob are back on our block with a fine brace of bangers to follow 2016’s The Point EP. Once again the pair’s production pedigree and ear for a good groove is in full effect as showcased by their previous collaborations on T’s Today Tomorrow Records and Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse imprint. 
The Learning Process drafts in Tim Deluxe, the man behind monsters by Double 99, RIP Productions and crossover hit It Just Won’t Do, who reveals a new depth to his abilities as he lays down the core of the track with a classic jazz-funk tinged piano riff.  Counterpart Call It In is the yang to the yin of The Learning Process, a rough-hewn direct to the dancefloor jam that’s all about that rolling bassline.

The Learning Process

The mighty PEZNT, aka Blacksoul and Mark de Line created a whirlwind of releases in 2017, lending their love to labels like Glasgow Underground, Defected, Toolroom, Wired, Metropolitan, Great Stuff, Fogbank and, of course, their own Blacksoul Music.  In between this furious studio activity they still found time to spread their sound live at the Exit Festival, GEM fest in Georgia and Strandfieber in Germany as well as Blacksoul’s weekly radio show on Zagreb’s Yammat FM.  Now we welcome the crazy Croatians to Strictly with another double serving of delights:  the jumping Pelin, featuring a bouncing piano bassline and inspirational sermon, and the more tech-driven pure grooves of Kume. 
‘We like to name most of our tracks by local food and drinks names’ explains Blacksoul of the track titles.  ‘Pelin is short for Pelinkovac, a famous herb liquour made since 1871.  Kume means Godfather, but in daily use it’s what you call your best friends around you.  So in a bar, you order your drink by shouting Kume, one Pelin, please!’

Alex Aguayo makes his Pogo House debut with the 90AA EP and serves up two superb slices of Garage House. Track 1 titled ‘90AA’ Alex gives us chopped up vocals that sit on top of wobbly stabs with nice and tight churning bassline that follow into a nice saxophone breakdown making this a contender for a definitive garage house track of 2018. On track 2 Alex turns up the production heat a notch and delivers a sophisticated and classy joint in ‘The Missing Channel’. Think of Jazz club vibes for this and wait for that deep rumbling bassline to kick in before the track winds down with spoken word on a brief breakdown. Alex Aguayo delivers fine production values on both tracks and is another one to keep on your radar.
