Made as part of the disquiet 0471 - making a piece out of just samples of ice cubes which I recorded 2 years ago in Amsterdam. I don't know what those ice cubes are up to these days, I suspect they gave up and melted.

Ice Chimes (disquiet0471)

I been doing these New Year Ice challenges for a few years and I suppose each year is a snapshot of whatever I was using at the time. This year, what with the Covid buggeration, meant I spent a lot of time building diy synths and modules.  I most recently built a Plinky synth, a simply lovely polyphonic digital synth and sampler. I fed it the original loop I used for the challenge in 2013 and used its outputs to trigger a DFAM and modulate fx. The decayed sax sound is the plinky oscillators fed through Monsoon

After several nice contributions from other junto participants (see disquiet0473) that showed me that actually something could be done (organ, lead guitar, etc)  I decided to "complete" the original take myself just to have something more listenable here. Hello, glad to be back, hope everybody started 2021 in a happy note.
I went for a fast approach: recorded a very simple idea, quite useless and pointless as it is, the sort of things I just record in 15 minutes and put aside waiting for the right time to do something with it, develop, transform, re-record properly,  expand and finish. Sometimes never happens. 

This one…I can’t think about any further development really, I don’t know what I’d do with it so it’s with a lot of hope that I ask somebody to do something with it, to rescue from oblivion.

It was recorded just now, me playing my Martin acoustic guitar on straight 1/4th notes with a delay on 1/8th notes (no feedback) and a second delay pedal on 1/8th notes with a long feedback to fill the spots where I pause in the middle and ending.
I like the blend of my human acoustic playing and the robotic repetitions of the digital delay. But I imagine it’s not the usual material to work with, hope somebody finds something to do with it.

Disquiet Junto Project 0473: Placebo Effect
The Assignment: Record the second third of a trio that others will complete.

Step 1: This week’s Disquiet Junto project is the second in a sequence intended to encourage and reward asynchronous collaboration. This week you’ll be adding music to a pre-existing track, which you will source from the previous week’s Junto project (disquiet.com/0472). Note that you aren’t creating a duet — you’re creating the second third of what will eventually be a trio. Keep this in mind. Leave space for what is yet to come.

Step 2: The plan is for you to record a short and original piece of music, on any instrumentation of your choice, as a complement to the pre-existing track.
