Disquiet Junto # 0671 was an invitation to create an atmosphere from scratch. "Other People's Dreams" features three intertwined vignettes, guiding the listener through mysterious spaces that are lying in wait for their stories to begin. 

A lot of the sounds, including the rattling engine in part 1, came out of torturing drum kit samples with filters, ring mods, and arpeggiators. I live-sculpted high pass and low pass filters on layers of pink noise to create the ocean swells. I recently acquired a Nektar Panorama control surface for Logic Pro, which gives me tactile control over parameter automation. For this piece, I was able to record a live performance involving shaping and filtering in real time. It's been very freeing creatively.

Recorded at NOSIGNAL Multimedia Lab in The Shambles, Chicago. True to the instructions for the prompt, no field recordings were used.

I envisioned entering a cave and the final descent into a dark abyss. Created with a Make Noise Strega semi-modular using the "Bat Cave" patch from the user manual.
