The song "3AM" is about a late-night, casual relationship during summertime. The chorus emphasizes the attraction between the two individuals, but the singer warns that it's a non-committal arrangement, focused on physical intimacy without cuddling or emotional attachment. In verse 1, Taj acknowledges the chemistry and connection they share but realizes the other person has been hesitant to commit. Despite this, the singer can't help but think about them. In verse 2, Malcolm knows their partner is interested and is willing to be patient, wanting them to feel comfortable, but they are also aware of the fleeting nature of their encounters. The song highlights the passionate yet non-committed nature of their relationship at 3am.

HALFnHALF is an American band based in Los Angeles, California consisting of vocalist and drummer Daiela Simon-Seay from Los Angeles, California, vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Malcolm Huss from Los Angeles, California, keyboardist, guitarist, and vocalist TAJ COVE from Centennial, Colorado, and bassist and drummer Myles Anderson from Sacramento, California. Formed during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, HALFnHALF created music remotely and occasionally came together in person to write songs and play shows. While pursuing academic endeavors, the members of HALFnHALF moved to the east coast where they continue to make music in Boston, New York, and Rhode Island.
Malcolm and Myles attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where collaborations between HALFnHALF and other artists and producers such as Dylan Moran were made. HALFnHALF creates music with musical elements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, pop, and jazz music. Their sound is inspired by artists such as The Internet, Phony Ppl, Smino, Jhené Aiko, and Mac Ayres. 
HALFnHALF recently released their new single “WYDK” featuring antransax on November 17 and looks to release more new music soon as they continue to play shows on the east and west coast.
