"Bad News" is about the struggles and frustrations of a complicated relationship. The chorus suggests that the addressed person should be aware of the issues and not act clueless about them. The verses express the singer's feelings of being taken for granted and hurt by the other person's actions. They are torn between their love for the person and the need to decide to let them go. Overall, the song conveys emotions, from anger and frustration to love and uncertainty.

HALFnHALF is an American band based in Los Angeles, California consisting of vocalist and drummer Daiela Simon-Seay from Los Angeles, California, vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Malcolm Huss from Los Angeles, California, keyboardist, guitarist, and vocalist TAJ COVE from Centennial, Colorado, and bassist and drummer Myles Anderson from Sacramento, California. Formed during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, HALFnHALF created music remotely and occasionally came together in person to write songs and play shows. While pursuing academic endeavors, the members of HALFnHALF moved to the east coast where they continue to make music in Boston, New York, and Rhode Island.
Malcolm and Myles attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where collaborations between HALFnHALF and other artists and producers such as Dylan Moran were made. HALFnHALF creates music with musical elements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, pop, and jazz music. Their sound is inspired by artists such as The Internet, Phony Ppl, Smino, Jhené Aiko, and Mac Ayres. 
HALFnHALF recently released their new single “WYDK” featuring antransax on November 17 and looks to release more new music soon as they continue to play shows on the east and west coast.
