The second release on Works Records comes from Footwork / Juke legend Traxman. A pioneer of the Chicago sound from his early days on Dance Mania records, Traxman is responsible for some of the scenes most iconic tracks, such as Footworkin On Air, Lifeeeee Is For Ever, Pacman Juke, and Blow Your Whistle. His releases on Planet Mu, Ghettophiles and Moveltraxx, as well as his constant stream of self releases have given way to some of the best music the genre has to offer.

Da Look EP is an ode to the many influences that composite the musical landscape of Chicago. The title track, Da Look, is a woozy Footwork take on a washed out funk melody. Fuk Um Up Bad is an aggressive battle jam, and 1992 draws from into the raw distorted sound of the early ghetto house scene. Finally, Woo War, takes the listener back to the days before house existed, whilst looking firmly toward the future.

We are ecstatic to welcome Sickarone to WORKS with his huge track Penna Bianca, launching our new singles series.

One of the most active members our internet forum Half-time // Slow-fast, Matteo Ciccarone, better known as Sickarone, is a producer from Turin with a sound shaped by jungle, garage, footwork, and everything in between.

His works are entirely made on his hardware setup; an old MPC sequencing various drum machines and synths, which allows him to express his musical ideas in the most direct way possible.

His productions are full of nostalgic, properly chopped breaks, tons of pitched and hypnotic vocals and deep subs. Penna Bianca pays homage to the best of late 90s dub techno, and blends it with juke and modern analogue goodness.

The debut release from Works Records comes from Half-time // Slow/fast and label founders DJ Jonco & Goldman. Following their successful run of club nights at Cosies; bringing in a wide range of 160 artists, New Era EP showcases their Chicago Footwork & Juke influences, whilst also nodding towards 90s Jungle and Hardcore.

The title track, New Era, combines triplet kicks with a hazy melody and a deep sub to compelling effect. Glow Of Love is a dancefloor banger with driving percs and a familiar bassline. Who's it Gonna Be combines 80s slow jams and jungle breaks with halftime 808 drums, and Distant Lover captures the overall melancholic mood of the EP, with the thought of summer parties still distant away.
