Amy Denio has been recording music since she was a teenager, and runs her own record label and publishing company, Spoot Music.  In 2015 she was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame. A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, improviser and producer, she has released over 60 CDs - solo, and with other musicians worldwide.  She loves photography and making short films, speaks in many languages, talks with strangers to learn more about the world.  

She's a founding member of Tone Dogs, Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, Danubians (Hungary/Czech), (ec) and Pale Nudes (UK/Switzerland), FoMoFlo (Japan), Quintetto alla Busara (Italy), and her accordion quartet Hell’s Bellows!  She’s been guest vocalist/multi-instrumentalist on numerous recording projects around the world.

She has composed countless soundtracks for modern dance choreographers, puppeteers, physical theaters, short and feature films.  

She plays in circus chamber trio AMA with Madeleine Sosin and Abel Rocha, and tours internationally with the Tiptons Sax Quartet (US), and Kultur Shock (Bosnian Gypsy-core band).   
She’s toured in & collaborated with musicians from East & West Europe, North America, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina for many years.

Denio has received commissions from Italian National Radio, the Berkeley Symphony, The New York Festival of Song, Relâche Ensemble, Die Knödel (Austria), and over a dozen choreographers.  Her work has been heard at Brooklyn Academy of Music, Seattle Opera House and the Paramount Theater in Seattle, Roman Theater in Trieste, Carnegie Hall, in the John Cage Exhibit at the 1993 Venice Biennale, and from the top of a Seattle METRO Bus.

Her work has received 2 Bessie Awards, and she has received dozens of other grants and fellowships from organizations such as Meet The Composer, Seattle Mayor's Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, 4Culture, Artist Trust, and Civitella Ranieri.

She has taught workshops on improvisation and composition at social centers, colleges and prisons worldwide.  She has played at major festivals all over the world, for up to 40,000 people.
