This mix is ​​dedicated to the Hochzeitsgesellschaft "HENDRA" because unfortunately we cannot come together to celebrate this wonderful two people this weekend. Love for you ragazzi <3

This was a different show. I had the human encyclopedia next to me when it comes to German language music. We had a little chat love during the last lockdowns, as it was often not possible to meet. He directly felt like co-designing a show and the topic was clear quite fast, since we had already often talked about it. This time it goes in the direction of dub and reggae influenced music, but also about early Proto-Rap made in Austria, Switzerland or Germany. We just pressed record and see what happens. The result is a 3h madness and luckily Sphere Radio played along that we were allowed to broadcast it completely. Without blahblah, just musik. I feel like this is also a good time to pause the show for an undetermined amount of time. But enough words. Thanks Beda , for sharing the wheels. Always a pleasure.

I decided to share some nice stuff that's resting in my crates for some time by releasing a mix every month. For the first one I put together a selection of mostly slightly odd but lovely German disco tracks pimped with some Czech and Romanian tunes in between. Better expect some cover versions as well. 😅

Kaufman & Nic Jalusi) who started their digging and record collecting adventures at the Lake Ammer in the south of Germany where they grew up together. Sneaker &amp; Stirnband connects a mutual (or mutant) love for NDW (New German Wave), German Disco, Schlager and Gertalo (German Italo). They carefully selected their 1,5h opening set for the Friday afternoon at Camp Cosmic starting in dazzling sunlight until the climax of the sunset.
Besides rare 12&quot;s and singles the mix includes some extended Sneaker edits and reworks.
For those who don’t know the Camp – Camp Cosmic is THE event for disco diggers in Europe since invented by Albion in Sweden in and now co-hosted by Alexander Arpeggio and a bunch of underground supporters from Dresden and Berlin. People from all over the world gathered for a weekend of disco magic. 2019 the festival took place in Chemnitz, Germany. Over 70 DJs and artists from more than 10 countries performed at the festival. The festival hosts a 2nd stage for electronic live acts and rather obscure DJ adventures.

Q: Thanks for your contribution to our mix series, how did you prepare for this mix, and how would you describe the result?

A: As i rarely record any mixtapes or similar i get really excited if i'm asked to make one. It begins with randomly and franatically pulling out records from my shelf and take a wild ride through all the genres i like to set a direction in which i'd like the mix to go. 
I just got some crates of various Italo Disco, Hi-NRG and Synth Pop records from a defunct discoteque in Mainz, so it was an almost mathematical certainty that this will impact the mixtape's style. 
There's a song in the mix called "no time for no emotion", i think that was the overall mood i aimed for if that makes any sense. Sometimes you just need this highly exaggerated, straight forward emotionality that only those records can transport, especially in times when you can't express those feelings dancing on cozy summer open airs. 

Q: Is there a record in the mix that you associate with a special story?

A: Well, not a really special or interesting story, but the second track in the mix (Gājēju Motīvs) was one of the first records i bought back in 2010 with some other (mostly boring to my ears) soviet records from a local welfare store. took me almost 10 years though to discover said song. Oh, and the last song, ("Warum Müssen Autos Fahren") is perfect for the last kilometers of a long road bike tour i found out!

Q: Do you have a special digging process, or what kind of things arouse your interest in a record?

A: I really love Discogs as a digging tool, especially now as brick and mortar record shops are closed. The possibility to filter such a huge database for e.g. electronic music from 1980s ethiopia is simply amazing and led me to many great finds. 
Out in the field, apart from the obvious things that raise interest like labels (or the absence of a label), release year etc.,  i mostly look for unusual combinations of characteristics, for example a cover that looks like a generic schlager record but the songtitles sound unusual for that genre.  

Q: One record you will never let go, and one that doesn’t want to leave your wantlist?

A: Tough question, as i regret so many records that i've sold in the past and seem to be unobtainable now. But one example i won't ever let go for sure is an original copy of the turkish folk album "Türküz Türkü Çağırırız!" by Mazhar Ve Fuat that a good friend brought me from Turkey. 
My wantlist is way bigger than my collection, but one of the oldest entry that i still search for anywhere is a original pressing from the self titled LP by Dandelion, a french psychedelic folk record on the famous Kiosque d'Orphee Label.

Q: Music bonds people together. Any local DJs/projects/shops/... you would like to shout out?

A: To be honest I'm not that connected in the local musical scene as i'm more a silent collector than a DJ (as you can hear in the mix), but i can highly recommend two record shops in my area: Staalplaat Records and Static Shock Music.
I'd also like to shout out @paulxmnz, a good friend of mine and my favourite DJ, and @paul_copping46 with his awesome label Speedmaster Records that really got me into Trance, a genre i mostly neglected before i heard his stuff.
