Crystal Stilts - Future Folklore

Back in 2008, a lot of heads turned to clock Crystal Stilts' Alight Of Night, their first album after a string of here-today-gone-tomorrow singles and EPs. It wasn't exactly a surprise - Crystal Stilts felt like part of a new age dawning, of underground collectives and random, crazy groups who'd rediscovered the joys of noise-pop and set about creating their own Creations - but there was something unique about Crystal Stilts, something hermetic yet gorgeous about the world they created. With their new album, "In Love With Oblivion," they stretch things further still, honing their songcraft, indulging their more strung-out sides, full of elliptical verses and perfectly chiming guitars, cranky pop organs and the punkest of rhythms. It's a perfect blend of pop smarts and beguiling experiment.

"In Love With Oblivion" is out April 12 on Slumberland Records in the US and April 11 on Fortuna Pop! in the UK.

<b>TOY - Join The Dots</b>

'Join The Dots' is the title track taken from TOY's forthcoming second album. 

The single edit - backed with an instrumental of the track - will be released as a limited edition 7" (300 copies) on 21st October 2013. Each copy will feature a screen-printed sleeve by artist David Chatton Barker (www.davidchattonbarker.com).

'Join The Dots', the album, will be released through Heavenly Recordings on Monday 9th December 2013.

It follows TOY's self-titled debut album which was released in September 2012, also recorded with Dan Carey in his South London studio.

I made this remix for Giselle over 3 months ago. It was going to be included in her single with a series of other remixes. As it turned out my remix was the only one ready at the time of release so she decided to ditch the remix plan and just went with a digital single. I've just kind of been sitting on it ever since. The b-side of the band's new "Shake The Shackles" 7" single. "Magnetic Moon" is a bluesy chug that comes on like some lost swamp pop classic, all echo, guitar twang and simple tom 'n' tambourine beat. Great stuff, and exclusive to this single.

"Shake The Shackles" is Crystal Stilts' first release since "Love Is A Wave" and is a great snapshot of where the band is now and a taster for their forthcoming second album, due early 2011. Driven by echoed guitar strum and droning keys, it's a dexterous update of 60s garage pop that places it alongside late 80s Paisley Underground heroes like Green On Red and later Dream Syndicate, but the song itself is totally timeless, and impossible to place anywhere but firmly in Crystal Stilts' own unique style.
