I just heard a version of this on Brisk's new album and googled it to find out more, as I thought this tune had a great title.  What a lovely tune.  Now, I can't decide which version I like best - Brisk's or Hamish's original!

I bought a book the other day called Push Paper and it featured lots of artists who work with paper. One of the brilliant artists Peter Callesen (Denmark) wrote about the 2 dimensional space of an A4 piece of paper and how his process of making the art shapes into it 3D bringing it alive. 

With this piece I wanted to take a new piece of music I had never seen or played before ('Donald & Fran MacKenzie of Inversneckie' written by Hamish Napier (www.hamishnapier.com)), learn it and make a performance of it all live on 'tape'. Basically bringing the 2D A4 sheet of paper alive and creating something new.
