“Stand With Us to Bless the Waters” is our prayer of solidarity for the Lakota Sioux Nation, & all the Water Protectors who have converged in North Dakota Standing Rock Reservation at the Dakota Access Pipeline. This is the first time in centuries that all the indigenous nations of Turtle Island (America) have come together in unity & guardianship for our Earth. This unprecedented tribal convergence has been catalyzed by the pipeline, but is representative of something much larger & more profound than a protest. 

In support for the situation in North Dakota, Amani Friend (Liquid Bloom) and Summit Jaffe (Numatik) were both separately inspired to create music for water and prayer.  Coincidentally, the two tracks were both finished at the same time on fall equinox and they were also written in the same key, making it ideal to interweave them into a one unified piece of music. While sitting in the New Mexico Hot Springs after Unify festival, Amani and Summit had the inspiration to curate this remix album. Producers from all over the world, like Earth Cry, Mystral, Soulacybin, Martin’s Garden, Ecometric, Gumi, and Twin Shape added their unique psychedelic downtempo flavors. Native elders like Black Fox Pomani, and Yona FrenchHawk imbued the music with intentional water prayers. United together, we humbly offer this medicinal musical journey in support and healing. Water is Life!

This is the first song from my upcoming EP collaboration with "Rising Appalachia".  If you dont know who they are, I recommend that you educate yourself swiftly as they are the JAM;  Beautiful, elegant, sultry sisters from the South.  

Leah and Chloe play Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, and create eloquent vocal harmonies that melt my heart.  We met 4 years ago in India and have reconnected to blend our sounds together.

They compose original music as well as traditional music from around the world.  This song "Sunu" is an african/appalachian fusion piece.  

We have had several rag tag recording sessions around the US (pictures coming soon hehe) and have had some of the most fun I have ever had in my life collaborating.  The Joy I have in my heart when I create this music is inexplicable in words.  This project makes me feel bliss.  

We're working on a full live performance also which is....dare I say.... mucho legendary

Rocking the West Coast World Music scene hard with its fusion of hip-hop/spoken word, ritual dance, and traditional World influences, Hamsa Lila earned its stripes as venerable force within the world music genre.   Since their inception in 2001 they've been recognized as a pioneer in world fusion, singing in multiple languages, alongside hypnotic polyrhythms led by  South African deep-pocket groove drummer Ian "Inkx" Herman (who’s backed Paul Simon, Sting, Hugh Masakela, Vusi Mahlasela), and mesmerizing vocals of the velvet voiced Nikila Badua and soulful Deja Solis, along with the core tribal resonance of MJ Greenmountain on male lead vocals and percussion. The bottom pulse of Hamsa Lila comes from the Gnawa bass like lute called the ‘sintir’, played by Vir McCoy.  This goat-gut stringed, camel-skinned ’bass’ has a penetratingly deep tone delivery that exemplifies Hamsa Lila’s unique sound.  When the repetition of trance melodies are added to this equation by another Moroccan, gut-stringed lute called the ‘Guimbri’, played by Beryl Jacobson, the group produces a sound that is wholly their own: a potent healing salve of electro-organic roots, hypno-grooves, and other-worldly melodies. And when embellished with the multi-instrumental talents of Evan Fraser (who is half of the hugely popular duo Dirtwire), on flutes, synths, ngoni, kalimbas, jawharps, and percussion, Hamsa Lila erupts in tidal wave of divine sounds and rhythms. The band became a sensation for their marathon "all night" performances at Burning Man and other popular West Coast festivals and events, and cemented a historic 2nd place on two national charts for their previous studio release "Gathering One.".  ( CMJ, Billboard ) in the World Fusion category.
Hamsa Lila has shared the stage with a number of renowned artists such as Karsh Kale, Michael Franti, Steve Kimmock, String Cheese Incident, Rasaki Aladokun ( King Sunny Ade), Tinariwen, and many others. Hamsa Lila’s new album, Aurora, is their latest studio recording, a collection of previously un-released studio gems.  The album will be fully released in August 2015.
