Born in Texas and raised in Alberta, Hilary now resides in Revelstoke, BC. Her early musical influences departed from the twangy norm to follow the bassy draws and soulful sounds of Brooklyn, Oakland, Havana, Kingston and beyond. 

When she isn’t behind the decks, she can be found wandering in the woods, snowboarding, biking, teaching yoga and dancing as a member of 2 Canez, her clowning crew of cane-waving, wig-wearing granny dancers.

She facilitates embodied movement practise with Embodied Rhythms soundtracks that she curates, and her love of Caribbean music and culture can be heard on her thematic Stoke FM radio show, Irie & Fiery.

I think it’s safe to say that the last three mixes in this series have been a narrative of some particularly tumultuous times in my life. At this point I’m happy to say that I’m feeling mentally and physically healthier than I have been in the last three years. Getting a grip on my vices and making healthier choices with my time has recharged my batteries, and having this pandemic shit somewhat wrapping up - I’m feeling more motivated than ever to get back to the music. 
I also wanna dedicate this mix to to all the incredible souls that we’ve lost in the past year. Some of the brightest lights have left us and it’s truly been heartbreaking for so many of us. So tell your people you love them and don’t take anything for granted.

Such a special honour to play this cherished and delicate time slot after the dons @kahn and @sicariasound. This was the first time I hadn't made a concrete plan for a proper gig, just felt into the energy of that morning and this is what it summoned. 
Sub focused and melodic...a dash of melancholy and nostalgia.

Meet Barisone: a true tastemaker whose sets are almost as beloved as the man behind the music; and for good reason. Between his curation of the Wake the Town party series based in Portland, OR alongside local dons PRSN and Danny Corn, his status as a household name in the underground electronic music community up and down the West Coast, and his impressive resume of performances everywhere from Shambhala to Burning Man to Bass Coast, it was only a matter of time before we had him on mix duties for Booms and Claps. Every Barisone mix has an entirely unique feel to it, but his signature sound always shines through, no matter the context, and the same can certainly be said for BnC Mix 035. Spring is here and so is a murderous mix from the one called Mandai. This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for over a decade. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks at legendary events and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is one of our all time favourites on the West Coast scene and has always delighted us with her selections. Lock it in for a mix of rap, trap, RnB, and bass.
