‘Love's Not Enough’ gets straight to the point, as a rapid trance of recurrent electric guitar riffs and an addictively relentless beat dominates the senses. Davis’ vocals emerge from a time decades past, resonating with an echoing intensity that peaks in the chorus alongside synthesised specks of nostalgic indie-pop in the form of flying synths and running percussion.

A new inquisitive guitar layer joins the mix, moving towards a grungy bridge featuring head moving beats and metallic riffs, before gravelly desperation sneaks into Davis’ voice, a final glance in the rearview mirror before leaving the past behind.

Reflecting on an ended relationship, Davis brings his distinctive lyrical maturity to ‘Love's Not Enough', reaching insightful conclusions that can hopefully provide some closure, as he states:

"As the title suggests, the song is about the fact that sometimes even the forces of love aren’t strong enough to hold two together."

Unsurprisingly, the band’s previous releases have seen support from US College Radio, National broadcaster IndieXL (Netherlands), Triple J, Double J, Triple J Unearthed, Scenestr, LA On Lock, Backseat Mafia, theMusic, Pilerats, XPress Magazine, Junction Records, RTRFM, FBi Radio, 4ZZZ, 3RRR and more, as well as being nominated for the WAM Rock Song of the Year in 2020. The group have also played coveted support and festival slots including RTRFM flagship event In The Pines, WAMFest and the inaugural WAY WAY WEST Festival.

Super Fan have been long time admirers of Sofia Coppola's movies having having fallen under her spell in 1999 after renting The Virgin Suicides from our local Blockbuster. Film after film was soundtracked with the most impeccable selections playing a key role in the overall aesthetic of her movies. It seems the part the music plays in transporting you to her worlds has not gone unnoticed with the vinyl soundtracks of Lost In Translation and Marie Antoinette sometimes selling for up to £300 a piece. 

We asked bands from our label and beyond to choose songs from the soundtracks and cover them for this unique release and the response was great. Bands from as far a field as China, New Zealand and Scotland have contributed tracks ranging from lo-fi bedroom 4 track recordings to full band studio versions and we are now very excited to present 'Sofia Songs' The compilation marks the 50th release on the label and perfectly marries our love of film and DIY music culture. 

Illustrator and long time Super Fan collaborator Kieran Gabriel has designed the sleeve and each boxed cassette copy will also include a movie script style guide book with detailed facts on each movie and it's music. Songs by Air, Phoenix, Frank Ocean, The Jesus and Mary Chain and many more reworked by your favourite Super Fan bands, what's not to love? Just in time for the release of the much anticipated 'The Beguiled' Sofia Songs is available from 07.07.17 with a London launch event/film screening TBC. 

As it is our 50th release there will be just 50 copies available and we will be donating £1 from each copy sold to our favourite charity. Please read about the work that Sense do here sense.org.uk
