VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring Confusion.

Confusion is a producer and resident DJ of Raserei. His dancefloor-oriented sound is defined by highly effective rhythms, minimalist synths, and trippy pads or textures that traverse various tempos and subgenres while maintaining a consistent and immersive energy. Drawing on his roots as a drummer and the evolving landscape of techno over the decades, he also finds inspiration in ambient soundscapes, IDM, and other experimental electronic styles.

Since 2017, Confusion has been shaping the regional techno scene in Mannheim and its surroundings. His trajectory soon expanded to institutional clubs such as Tresor Berlin and RSO. As co-host of a visionary event series at Disco Zwei, he has been instrumental in bringing forward-thinking artists to the local scene. Alongside the club nights, the Raserei residents also launched a record label of the same name, extending their collective vision beyond the region.

In recent years, his artistic focus has expanded toward producing his own stripped-down yet timeless techno. Following his debut release, he put out his first vinyl on the esteemed SK_eleven label, run by Setaoc Mass, as part of the SKX series. His tracks have since gained support from key figures including DVS1, Luke Slater, Rødhåd, Rene Wise, Philippa Pacho, Marrøn, Blue Hour, and Quelza, with plays at iconic venues such as Berghain, KHIDI, Bassiani, Basement, FOLD, and Radion.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

The Mutations series from 2012 finally continues with it's concept to mutate older tracks into so far unheard creations. Lego's "Deviant" has left over DNA from an unreleased track by Cari Lekebusch & Benjamin Mull. Cari Lekebusch mutated Mikrotakt's track called "I Carry The Memory Around" into "ICTMA", including small traces from Alexi Delano's "Up Hill". The Miller has "Re-Reverted" Cari Lekebusch's 1998 release "Reverted" and Lego's track "Red Menace" has been properly re-sequenced and translated into "Rött Hot" by Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell.

With a passion for hard techno and a taste for mixing genres, their sets move from driving techno through bouncy rhythms to raw, high-energy hard techno. Already seen behind the decks at club Chmury and Stacja Międzyrzecka. She is carving out a sound that’s heavy, experimental, and built for the dancefloor.

"The name Hans Bouffmyhre was born in the summer of 2006, when a group of friends decided to start their own techno night in a dark basement in Paisley, Scotland. The first night was a massive success and the rest is now history. 15 years later Hans Bouffmyhre is an established artist within the worldwide techno scene. Having released music on some of the worlds most esteemed techno labels like Soma Records, Electric Deluxe, Perc Trax, Suara and others. Meanwhile his own label Sleaze Records goes from strength to strength, firmly stapled as one of the best techno labels in the UK.

Hans has been lucky enough to play regular DJ sets at some of the biggest and most well known clubs in the world, from the infamous Berghain in Berlin, to Melkweg in Amsterdam, Rex Club in Paris, Sub Club in Glasgow amongst many others. He is known for bringing a raw, hypnotic and energetic style. Still only in his mid 30’s and with already so much experience as a DJ, producer, label manager and party organiser, the future looks bright for Hans Bouffmyhre."
