Rather Strange

This is another cover of an oldies tune, 'Another Saturday Night*', written by the great Sam Cooke (he wrote the song while staying in a hotel where no female guests were allowed). But this version is a cover of another cover - Cat Steven's version of the song. Cat's version is more upbeat, with a bit of a Latin feel to it. Being a fan of both versions, I threw in a sample of Cooke's original at the very end, and the voices from the studio recording at the very beginning, including a count off by Cooke himself, just for fun. I REALLY enjoyed doing this one, and hope it shows in the recording. Thanks for listening.

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a few wonderful days off, completely offline, in a small, old hotel in the countryside overlooking a beautiful lake. for some reason, this place has not yet been discovered by lifestyle influencers or occupied by adventure-seeking stand-up paddlers.

surrounded by this tranquility and far from the hustle and bustle, the lyrics for a song I had published on sc as an instrumental years ago came to mind. it wasn't that easy to get my virtual singer to perform the glissando guitar melody from back then, but it worked out reasonably well in the end.

1972-2025
For many years Tony ran the Chambers open mic night in Folkestone Kent. He was a top bloke, kind and supportive to each and every performer. As an example, the audio at the end of this track is taken from a video of me having just finished playing one of my songs. You can hear, at the time I couldnt as I was at the other side of the room, how encouraging Tony was, always complimentary. Tony loved life, was a happy chappie and kept himself extremely fit. He swam the channel, the sea from England to France some 21 miles on more than one occasion. Guess this proves we never know what life has in store for us even if we look after our health. Tony will be deeply missed not only by his loving family but those of us that got to know him through his wonderful open mic nights.

welcome to my english stuff written over the past 40 years as well as recently. so far I let my guitar "sing" (to be listened/watched on my yt page/link below) but thanks to my AI persona, which I challenged in endless programming sessions, I now have the opportunity to bring these songs to life with emulated vocals templated via my melody/arrangement backing tracks, my lyrics, and a lot of prompts to suno 4.5+ and suno 5.

speaking of AI: while spotify finally wants to introduce mandatory labeling for AI, here on sc, deception is still rampant and increasing. those who publish AI-generated music and lyrics without disclosing it seem completely unconcerned that they are cheating their listeners, the community, and musicians with authentic works.

some even explicitly state in their bios that they do not use AI, even though their music, and often their lyrics too, have clear AI signatures that any good online detector can identify in seconds and even assign to specific programs. 

this suggests: zero ideas, zero musical talent or feeling, zero effort, zero work. just pressing a button and out with the stuff! 

sure, everyone has the right to hold the attitude behind such behavior. but it not only makes a mockery of all genuine musicians and their craftsmanship, but also of all musicians who take AI seriously and use it musically, not as a machine for cheating, but as a new way of implementing ideas.

so please stand by what you do, and how you do it! the world is full of fakes. don't become one of them. of course, you can adorn yourself with borrowed feathers, but that doesn't mean you can fly;-)
