Monsters On The Horizon

Don’t let right wing pundits convince you that the voice of the artist isn’t crucial in times of political turmoil. Art is a renowned tool of resistance and Trap/Rock/Rap group Monsters On The Horizon are joining the age-old tradition of using music to challenge the status quo. This group is creating an alternative lane for ‘Art x Music x Connection’ by subverting traditions in music relating to production and marketing. Taking a page from the likes of Daft Punk and The Gorillaz, the group wear masks to conceal their identities in our current age of social media and over-exposure. The mystery surrounding the group adds to an existing allure built on a reputation of releasing albums on Halloween and Friday the 13th.

“We, as Monsters On The Horizon, are here to challenge the status quo and encourage a new perspective. We believe in music and art as a vehicle to awaken ideas and desires in others and promote introspection and observation of the world around us. Mr. Scary is a culmination of that belief, specifically in creating a dialogue with respect to the many issues plaguing society today”


Their newest single ‘Mr. Scary’ dropped Friday the 13th (July 2018), bringing with it a blend of Trip-Hop, Trap as well as Urban and Rock and Roll vocals, delivering a soundscape that exudes a sense of power and even resistance. Most bands have to build their name touring the NYC bars/club circuit but Monsters on the Horizon keeps to their ‘tradition’ of throwing tradition out the window by having monthly RITUAL events that started off with only 13 friends and now hosts hundreds and features other underground musicians. As part of the 1166 Collective Music, Art, Fashion, and Film are all worlds the members of Monsters create in.

Monsters On The Horizon are AFROPUNK Battle of the Bands contenders and are performing Saturday August 4th for the Get Carried Away Music Festival which will be on a Yacht departing from Brooklyn Army Terminal 140 58th St, Brooklyn, NY, and a mini tour for the Salem Horror Movie Festival October 10th – the 14th in Salem Massachusetts.

LETS ROCK! Straigt, rough rock´n´roll, loud, wild with no frills are the trademarks of this four members suburban – garage combo. 
Lust, emphase and melody meet with uninhibited words to a firework of high spirit.

DJ H-pi Inspired by Rock and Metal, DJ H-pi started to turn the black discs. But the style changed and another genre became his new music home. House music replaced the guitar sound and was his early sound direction. His never ending search for the perfect DJ set, the ideal mix expanded his acoustic spectrum. New styles, like breakbeat and minimal electro complemented his record library. From the very beginning it was essential for DJ H-pi to play ‘his’ music to the crowd and to give them an understanding of his music taste. Beyond turning the tables, DJ H-pi works as a social worker and the social element merges with his musical play: Action is followed by reaction and for this he is in a permanent and satisfying acoustic dialog with his audience. In 2002 he Co-founded, together with DOM, Azubischall. This collective was later replenished by DIAZ and VJ C’QUENCE and was renamed to Azubischall Deluxe. Many legendary Zone11 parties followed and with the cooperation with cougar:T they set another milestone in Salzburg’s club scene: e-creation. In 2005 e-creation not only covered many different music styles, but also connected electronic music with fine arts. DJ H-pi’s international and national career is in a constant progress. Austria, Germany, Slovenia, just to name a few countries he shared his art with. Moreover, he shares his experience and knowledge with young newcomers, educates and supports on behalf of Culture Space Pilot in the ArgeKultur Salzburg.
