This particular Yidaki on this recording was made by Charlie 'Hook' McMahon and an original Didgeridoo in that it was fashioned mainly by nature and properly termite eaten...

Esta pieza tiene la intención de recrear un espacio ritual en el que se alude a la muerte como potencial generadora de vida.
Además de una flauta bajo de pico y un par de flautas de carrizo que la intérprete utiliza en vivo, en la obra se usan un grupo de flautas tradicionales mexicanas manipuladas electrónicamente que comprende: flautas diatónicas, flauta microtonal, flauta de mirlitón (con un orificio cubierto por una membrana de tela de araña), flauta triple (funciona a base de batimentos); huíjolas (que simulan gorgeos de pájaros) y un silbato de viento.
El interés por este grupo de instrumentos radica en explorar sus posibilidades en cuanto al timbre y la afinación para diseñar una parte con la que la intérprete interactúa durante la obra. La idea es abstraer la sonoridad de los mismos de su contexto original para utilizarla en un ámbito de composición contemporánea.
El movimiento del sonido en el espacio es otra característica de la obra por lo que se utilizan 4 altavoces que rodean al público e intérprete para su óptima difusión.

To Anna Margules and to the memory of Fidelia Sánchez
 
This piece is intended to recreate a ritual space alluding to death as a potential source of life. 
In addition to a bass recorder and a pair of reed flutes used live by the performer, this work incorporates a group of traditional Mexican flutes electronically manipulated. This group includes: diatonic flutes, microtonal flute, Mirliton flute (with a hole covered with a spider web membrane), triple flute (works based on batimentos, binaural beats or infrasonicphantom sounds), huíjolas (whistles simulating bird chirping) and a wind whistle.
The interest in this group of instruments lies in exploring their possibilities in terms of timbre and tuning to design a part with which the performer interacts during the performance. The goal is to abstract the sonority of the instruments from its original context in order to use it in a field of contemporary composition. 
The movement of the sound in space is another characteristic of the work; hence four speakers surrounding the public and performer are used for its optimal diffusion.

harald muenz (he/him)
is a german-italian transdisciplinary artist realising instrumental & vocal, peformative and radiophonic works with an artistic focus on phonetic composition & ars acustica.
harald's compositions have been commissioned by ensembles mosaik, auditivvokal, hand werk, apartment house, modern, musikfabrik; by radio stations such as hessischer rundfunk (hr2-kultur), westdeutscher rundfunk (wdr3), bbc, deutschlandfunk, dlf Kultur, among others.
harald's works have been performed and broadcast internationally and have been documented on several cds (portrait cd nearly-fast with ensemble mosaik at coviello contemporary).
frequent collaborations with experimental poets (florian neuner, mathias traxler, cristian forte, christian filips, roža domašcyna, among others)
on the vr platform 'second life', harald (aka cuirec d’erc) has realised several interactive sound installations and has been a member of the avatar orchestra metaverse (aom) since 2017.
harald is also active as a multilingual speech performer (trio sprechbohrer), author and lecturer.
harald's music has been occasionally described by others as ‘worldly,’ ‘non-conformist,’ or ‘provocative.’
