It’s their creative approach to think out of those boxes – boxes that Maria and Luis enjoy to open up, especially if they’re filled with vintage records. It’s their great passion to draw inspiration from old vinyls and collect samples for their extraordinary productions. So the tracks „Upai“ and „Minuhan“ are simply the words of the track’s vocal samples... as easy as it gets!

Shika Shika is very happy to present the 4th edition of our Passages series dedicated to migration. This new volume features Alex Musatov

Alex Musatov is a violinist and singer based in Buenos Aires since 2011. Russian by birth and Argentinian by choice (although also having a grandfather who’s originally from Argentina), he started out as a session player moving freely across all kinds of musical generes (tango, indie, folk, punk, electronic) to this day appearing on around 100 records and touring in more than 20 countries around the globe. His anti-academic approach to violin-playing is driven by his urge to explore new musical horizons every day and is the reason he started writing songs exclusively for violin and voice mixing folk, gothic and neo-classical influences.
This collection of four musical moments is inspired by a bittersweet feeling of not knowing where you belong (Home), toxic relationships (Eye of the Storm), crossing all kinds of borders (Frontier), and dealing with hypocrisy (Kingdom of Dust).

All sounds without exceptions are done with violin and vocals.

Macaúba é o nome do EP de estréia do projeto Kurup, de Renato Rocha. Artista multicultural e habitante do Cerrado, Renato nunca deixou de migrar entre gêneros e estilos musicais, criando pontes entre o orgânico e o artificial; analógico e digital; acústico e eletrônico. Nessa primeira compilação, Kurup nos mostra sua intenção narrativa e progressiva, mesclando novos suportes com antigas histórias que valem a pena serem recontadas. Sua pesquisa com a música folclórica e tradicional (principalmente da cultura Latina) demonstram seus interesses em ressignificar e reinventar. A busca para encontrar novos ou antigos recursos musicais renovados representam um desejo em transcender o tempo presente. 

English: Macaúba is the name of the debut EP of Renato Rocha project, Kurup. Multicultural artist and dweller of Brazilian savanna’s biome “Cerrado”, Renato never stopped migrating among genres and music styles, creating bridges between the organic and the artificial; analogic and digital; acoustic and electronic. In this first compilation, Kurup brought to us his narrative and progressive intention, mixing new supports with old stories that worth to be told again. His research with traditional and folklore music (specially from Latin culture) demonstrate his interests about reframing and reinventing. The search to find fresh or old renewed musical resources represent his desire in transcending the present time.

'' Crotalus is the scientific genus of the snake known as "Cascavel". Much feared for its poison, it has a structure in its tail known as "guizo", which emits the animal's characteristic sound, like a rattle.
The music in question has this defense behavior as a reference, bringing in addition to the varied shakers, also adverse rhythms; moments of tension; psychedelic percussions and melodies that sound like the snake's action movement and a possible enchantment. ''

Cosmovision presents '' Animals of the Earth ''

The human race has lived and shared this space we call Earth with the animal kingdom for millions of years but today, most cultures have abandoned the idea that humans are animals like the others. Our modern societies have been treating Mother Earth as if it was their property, extracting resources, polluting constantly, changing the landscape, killing the other animals we and destroying its natural balance.

Since the Industrial Revolution, humanity has killed 83% of all wild mammals and half of all plants of the Earth. Two hundred species of living beings are going extinct every single day. We collectively need to change so many things in areas such as the use of plastic, meat consumption, contaminating energies, day to day overconsumption and more. How can artists raise awareness regarding this?

Thinking on how to be simple but at the same time Universal, Cosmovision Records presents ¨Animals of the Earth¨. For this project we have gathered to co-create an ecosystem that lives in a music album. Producers from many places on Earth explored their connections with our animal cousins, remembering that the condor, the rabbit, the deer, the frog and all the others are our partners in the long trip that this green and lively planet takes in the Universe.

We invite you to come with us on this journey through the musical ecosystem of the ¨Animals of the Earth¨ to discover, respect and care for these beautiful beings that live with us.
