The signal had flickered into existence without warning, a sudden complex sequence that almost filled the awaiting databanks within moments and laid out an array of schematics beyond comprehension. For years they labored, first to understand and then to build the machine it described, a craft that could finally escape the outermost reaches of the solar system and carry a single human beyond the limits of their star, to the point of the signal’s source. They picked the passenger with care - their most capable pilot, linguist and scientist, ascribed beyond the limits of fear through overwhelming curiosity… The journey was swift, covering that most immeasurable of distances in human terms within days. As he drew close to the origin, far from the sun and beyond the influence of the system, it appeared as a speck in the distance but quickly grew into a sight of overwhelming complexity, a vast silent ship, and static in the darkness, blotting out the light of distant stars. As the shuttle drew close, it shuddered into life, internal lights hesitating before firmly illuminating and colossal vents purged gases into the yawning nothingness of space. The vessels nestled together, extending appendages and exchanging code. With a sigh the airlock opened and sequential lighting ushered him within the vacant hulk, a faint trembling of power running through the hull and beneath his feet. He entered the endless chamber with wide pupils, so big that it receded into blackness, the overwhelming mechanism before him filling his vision – a vast sphere engineered to an impossible configuration… a pathway to the stars… the WARP DRIVE.

MALUX is an artist who surged into the drum & bass sphere suddenly in 2016, delivering a tight selection of releases on some of the leading labels in the genre and making his mark on the European live scene with rapid success. The pods stood starkly in the shadows, the outline of each distinct against the insidious green glow of the harvesting chamber, where the evolved one endlessly milked the essence of these bleak-fated souls. Within each synthetic husk the occupants writhed in dark pleasure, far beyond the bounds of morality, twisting their bodies and riding the ecstasy of their unrestrained minds. The bio-integrated neurotechnology affixed to each skull delivered an endless stream of visceral stimulants, bypassing the conscious mind and manipulating the subconscious directly. Each brain mass swelled with the constant input, pushing against their very skulls as the physical limits of bone matter threatened the intensity of a stroke. Their pulsating craniums signified their readiness for the harvest, their ripeness for the primary czar… a soul stretched to its limits, drenched in the decadence of its capacity… fit to burst from its flimsy biocarcass. In readiness the first pod glided smoothly across the chamber, birthing its inhabitant into the overlord’s grasp as he prepared to extract her essence.

Russian neurofunk heavyweight MIZO brings his unique breed of darkness to the EATBRAIN fold with the SOUL REAPER EP in all of its ill-grained glory. A distinct figure in the Russian drum & bass scene who has also been known as a member of Gydra, the Soul Reaper EP sees Mizo returning to Eatbrain following a long period since his ruthless 'Bad Omen' collaboration with Teddy Killerz as Mizo and the 'Psycho' EP as part of Gydra. Through the five tracks contained within, Mizo delivers his unique take on d&b, delivering 5 tracks of powerful solo material that smacks of the label's breed of premiere neurofunk and incorporating Eatbrain veteran MC COPPA. The pilot quickly glanced either side of the cockpit, peering out through the oil-stained reinforced glass that separated him from the thick clouds of the permasmog that he and his fellow skykillers were now gliding through. Death’s whisper rode quietly on their tails, the promise of a further step into the unending cycle of violence as irresistible to it as the concept of the freshly slain under its ivory digits. The pilot had acquired a sense for its presence, drawing fierce consciousness as mortality skewered him viciously against the present. In a moment, they soared out of the thick wall of pollution and the skies lit up with stark abruptness as plumes of burning oil billowed from his brothers’ vehicles, their screams and burning skin engulfed by the rapid fractal destruction of their mechanisms. Death screamed with wild abandon at his hind, as he slammed a nitropellet into the furnace and smashed the rapid start of his engine. The propeller whirled immediately into action, rocket thrusters firing and pushing him deep into his seat as the steam snaked through his nose ventricle and he became intertwined with his infernal engine, enveloping him in its toxic carnage. His hand moved to the bomb-bay switch, doors opening and a stack of murder rolling outside with the reaper swift behind, ready to collect the souls of the sunworshippers below, the infidel for whom the power of the perpetual engine is forever beyond.

An endless darkness beckoned ahead, a deep void beyond that held its own gravity, pulled him ahead one paw at a time. Beneath his furry exterior, tucked in the warmth of tightly woven layers of the cotton, the fast beating of his organic heart pulsated nervously, stretching his chest stitches at the seams with its urgency in a constant rhythm. The shadows of the passage flickered in deathly silence over the uniform blackness of his glass bead eyes. Something was out there. He withdrew, sinking into the warm folds of a distant memory – being dropped by his skin companion, and the fuss that followed the soft hairless ones surrounding him with hushed cries, picking him up and dusting him off, holding him close and pressing him back into the fat pink digits of the little one as she kissed him on the eye and promised never to drop him again. The sound of tearing fabric pulled him at once back into the stark reality that faced him, as he looked down in horror at the cotton spilling from his shoulder… his arm slowly tumbling to the floor and landing with a soft and almost noiseless thud against the bleak floor. As he was still registering the beginnings of his own separation, the vast blade swung again – leaving him staggering in his new confusing balance, a furry torso on legs, wobbling unsteadily in the darkness. Then his vision fell forward, he was looking at himself… was that his armless body in front of him? How was it possible? His simple mind was reeling as his head went tumbling toward the floor, spinning as it dropped. The glint of the HELLBLADE caught his eye as his attacker stepped into the light, a hideous body of stacked limbs and rough stitches, cotton spilling out of the seams of its fur… the antithesis of innocence loomed heavily across the dying creature, the glint of his glass eyes faded as the TEDDY KILLER looked coldly upon its meaningless end.

The mass of supplicants prostrated just beyond its twisted paws, their pathetic mewling pleasantly caressing the towering feline fiend’s ears as they expressed their divine agony. Drinking up the delicious earmilk of their pain, it reclined languidly in its glorious pedestal; a mass of flesh and sinews with the fine carved bones from the countless many condemned to this realm of eternal torment. Its three eyes rolled apathetically to fall upon one particular beggar, drained of almost all remaining life from her years pennance, spent at the foot of the infernal throne, worshipping the glory of pain in all its truth and crying for salvation. The utter futility of this endeavor suddenly dawned on the great cat, as the constancy of myriad calls made for escape fell upon his ears at once. Suddenly annoyed by this ever-present sound, he reached out, spearing the pathetic being before him with a claw and flinging her from into rock and into the depths of the molten river below. His eyes watched her form ignite and fade in the heat, her soul joining others to be swept into its current on a journey to be reborn as pitiful lesser devils elsewhere in the plane. How benevolent an act, the cat thought to itself, freeing the pitiful creature from her suffering for a brief moment and more even - giving her the opportunity of such an esteemed metamorphosis. Even though the pathetic fiend she would be reborn as would hold not even a candle to his own magnificence, it would still be a marked improvement against the limits of her prior flesh. Sated by his own thoughts, he leaned forward once, rotating his vast ears to better drink in the fresh desperate energy of the remaining supplicants. Its hideous mouth opened to a wide, sharp smile, revealing cruelly serrated fangs that shone unnaturally with a umbral hue. “A reward for my benevolence,” he thought as he plucked the nearest wretch from the rock with a single talon, his pupils sharpening with focussed malevolence as he tossed them into his fur-lined maw. Satisfied, his hunger temporarily sated, there was but one thing left to do. He would take a nap.

The ZOMBIE CATS return to the label that set the fire on their ferocious project back in 2014, placing them on a fierce trajectory of furiously kinetic releases that have brought them to the present, their most pointed assault on the eardrums yet with the WORLD’S END EP on EATBRAIN. With the title track tearing out of the mouth of hell with slower bpm but highly charged energy, further establishing the newly forming neurowave genre, the cats make a bold statement from the outset. The titular COSMIC ORDER surges forwards from the outset, galvanized by the energy of its electrified kicks and screeches. The sole moment of reprieve allowed by the track serves only to caution the listener, as the track quickly resumes its sonic blitz with the selfsame callous indifference spoken to by the vocal sample therein. Within THE CRUCIBLE, a focused mantra resounds amongst disciplinarian drums, devoting the track to a philosophy of pure auditory force. Its righteous fury growing with each punch of its kickdrum, the track’s final assault is a cathartic release of unrestrained might that resonates with definite finality.

With COSMIC ORDER, LOWROLLER delivers a pair of tracks that push against the boundary between the two styles of Hardcore and Drum & Bass. Amplified via OTHERCIDE INFERNO, the result is a stunning synthesis of sonic strength wrapt with hard-edged energy sure to devastate the dancefloor.
