I was going through a discogs rabbit hole when I found it, it was very easy to find but quite underrated.

3. Why do you choose to edit it ?
There are some parts I really like about the song, but overall I found the structure to be quite messy, and at points a little jarring, so I cut out the parts I didn't like and beefed up the good bits!

4. What are your next plans?
My next release is my track 'Idyll Illusion' on Semi Delicious alongside Demi Requisimo, Baby Rollen, Harry Oscillate & Gallegos, out 26.11.21!

Omri Smadar, a producer / dj / musician. I Live in Tel Aviv

> How did you discover this track ? 
The original track is from a classic record by Matti Casspi, one of Israel's most prolific and known artists. He was influenced by Brazilian music, and in 1978 he recorded an album of hebrew covers of brazilian music, called Eretz Tropit Yaffa ("Pais Tropical" in Portuguese) 
I chose to re edit one of the lesser known gems from this album.

> Why do you choose to edit it ? 
I was drone to the latin percussive groove & the vocals and simple lyrics. I felt this is such a feel-good track that can work really well on the floor.

> What are your upcoming plans?
Looking forward to the release of Adama - EP on Hard Fist in March 22!

K: In fact, my dear father showed it to me, he has it on cassette. He has always been a big fan of the 80s Arabic music especially with Funk and Raï music.

GG: Gael Juárez aka Gael Gael, DJ and producer from the city of Puebla, Mexico.

HRDF: How did you discover this track ?
GG: I have always been passionate about music and, one day while exploring Discogs, I came across this song that seemed quite avant garde for it to be from 83.

HRDF: Why do you choose to edit it ?
GG: Because I like the mix of genres combined within the track which are some musical references that I like like hip hop/electronic music. The melodies mainly seemed fascinating to me so I decided to take the most interesting parts and imagine editing it in my style to give it more dynamics for the dance floor.

D: I am Dacou, a DJ/producer based out of Toronto. 

HRDF: How did you discover this track?
D: I saw a local ad in Toronto for somebody wanting to get rid of some old Arabic cassette tapes, so naturally I was curious. Turns out it was an elderly gentleman who had them, and they had belonged to a lady from Egypt who he was in love with over thirty years ago. Unfortunately things didn’t work out between them and she went back home, leaving their love unfulfilled. He never saw her again and these tapes were all that were left of her, but in his old age he felt it was right to pass them on. This tape was amongst them. 

HRDF: Why do you choose to edit it?
D: After discovering this song and coming to know it was in fact a love song, a declaration of love - I thought it was a fitting ode to the gentleman who had given me the tapes, while serving as modern dance-floor friendly refresher of a great Algerian Raï track.

D: To keep digging for gems and dropping betters!

MRN: I discovered Rupa with a recommendation of my girlfriend maya in a vinyl store in paris, in the moment I listened to her album I decided that my fusion will work well with her tracks so I contacted her and got her permission to put it out as a official release.

MRN: I choose to edit this track because Rupa took out only 4 songs out in public and I loved the amazing touch of ethnic Hindi vibe with the disco in her tracks and she did it like no other.

O: I was digging’ here in Venice in a very nice vinyl store (Spazio 432Hz) with a super and very large selection of 90’s and early ’00 trance, progressive and techno wax, searching’ for the 45rpm to play at 33rpm to achieve the Trance-A-Lento long lasting effect and this Italian gem comes by my hands, the artwork was epic and when I putted it on the plate I fell into a total state of trance %). Love at first sight

HRDF: Why do you choose to edit it?
O: Because I got it just on vinyl :D so I chose to make an edit playing
something more on and pitching down (a lot) the whole track making it completely different from the artist's initial idea (the original mix I choose to edit is pure trance at 130 or more bpm)

HRDF: What are your upcoming plans?
O: Got 2 releases which I’m very proud of, the first one will be in January on UK’s Trule Rec (Al Wootton's own imprint) and the second one will be in March/April : a 12” on Multi Culti

P: I heard it in another song also as a sample. It really got me somehow trapped into it, and it makes me want to do my own version.

P: The song chose me. Kidding...hehe. Well, it has been a while that I wanted to do something special to HardFist, it finally matched perfectly with the vibes I wanted to put in this edit.

P: Well. Right now I'm touring between Colombia and Ivory Coast, so kind of living the dream of sharing music with people.  Until the end of the year, I still (fortunately) have some gigs.

Some records are answers to questions no one asked out loud. With Where is Acid Eric, Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Raï deliver a psychedelic missive from a parallel timeline — a time-traveling tribute to Goa’s golden age, filtered through their unmistakable signature.

Returning to their home base Hard Fist, the duo steps into new territory with this release, and yet, it feels like they’ve been heading here all along. This isn’t a retro-fetishist trip, nor a copy-paste homage. It’s a reimagination — of a sound, a space, and most of all, a spirit.

The EP is rooted in the mythic nights of late-80s and early-90s Disco Valley, where British acid house collided with Indian hedonism, where freedom wasn’t a pose but a necessity, and where dancefloors became temporary utopias. But in the hands of Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Raï, this past gets warped, stretched and reanimated with 2025’s tools and sensitivities.

Across three extended tracks, the duo summons a sound that’s dense yet breathable, tribal yet precise, nostalgic yet futuristic.
They weave Goa’s swirling trance lines with broken rhythms, analog squelches, and post-industrial textures. The acid lines are sharp, but never cliché — more mantra than gimmick. Voices float in and out like half-remembered chants. Basslines slide, hypnotize, and then vanish in a cloud of smoke. It's not a flashback. It's a vision.

The title, Where is Acid Eric, feels like a lost broadcast — part question, part invocation. Eric is a symbol. IS Eric a ghost ? The true legend of a forgotten raver on a dusty Anjuna morning. What matters is the search. The longing. The dance.

HF: How did you find this track, any particular reason why you chose this one to edit?
Romain: I found this track in a jazz specialised record shop in Hong Kong with a bunch of other middle eastern influenced records, it couldn’t have been more random to be honest but that’s the beauty of digging for records.
I’ve tried playing it out but i felt it was just missing a little push to make it a bit nastier, to make people go nuts on the dancefloor, so a couple of weird samples, an acid bassline & some touch up later... it became mayhem material (I think).

HF: What would you do if you weren’t making music?
Romain: In my coffin sleeping for eternity.

HF: Any favourite place in town?
Romain: Toilets are my favourite place they are the only place where you can truly be yourself and alone. I came up with my beat ideas taking a dump... everybody knows that but nobody wants to admit it.

HF: What is your favourite saying?
Romain: “Common sense is not that common”

HF: Do you fear karma?
Romain: I live by it, so I don’t fear it.

Tagliabue: "Original track is an electronic piece of music from 1995’s album, full of exotic influences. I found it when I was digging some new sounds from the past years and I really loved it. Later, I decided to re-work on it and I thought about an alternative version. I use to spin slow music (at wrong speed, from 45 to 33 rpm) and the result is a new “slow-tempo” track inspired by Afro-Cosmic and Progressive scenario of the 90’s in Italy."

Guling: This edit is a tribute to the orignal tracks Bom Nuklir by legendary Indonesian islamic girlband called Nasida Ria, to keep rephrase their message about spreading peace & love to each other, making health therapy by using organic products, rather than having a nuclear power that maybe be a potential to annihilate everyone.
Nasida Ria is very familiar to most Indonesian people, it is played anywhere on TV and radio during Ramadan fasting month.
There was a legendary "Qasidah" girlband in Indonesia. Qasidah was a genre that blends pop music with arabic and muslim culture.

HRDF: why did you choose it for an edit?

Guling: I choose it because most of Indonesian youth were shamed to listen to their music. It wasn't cool, more like a kitsch taste for them. But I want to keep rephrasing their message in today's context, and also to keep bangin' it into the dancefloor hahaha!

HRDF: what do the song's lyrics mean exactly?

Guling: They tell us to keep spreading love to each other,  by planting more plants to save the world or create a medication therapy by using it as an alternative way. Instead of provoking nuclear war.

I think the message works for today's situation. We're not facing a nuclear threat, missiles or something like that anymore. We are facing a virus that can kill anyone.  
In the end, although we facing this shitty situation - we can't go out, we can't make plans, no gig, all tour cancelled - we still need to spread love. To me, it also means that it's time to give rest to mother earth, as it is also said in the song.

HF: How did you discover this track?
FM: I was doing research over the lockdown, I was looking for proto techno releases from '88 to '91 and I've found this track on discogs.
It's a german production from '88 released on the amazing ZYX records. 

HF: Can you tell us more about the rework?
FM: The original track contains the famous speech by Martin Luther King "I have a dream" but I've decided to cut it and give more space to the instrumental parts and extend the acid elements. I think it's more effective on the dancefloor now.

@aaronmaple first discovered Amira Saqati through a mixtape he was listening to via Soundcloud last fall. He remembers quickly browsing Amira Saqati's discography after the discovery and enjoying many songs from it. Hel Aeynik's vocals and melody got him right away. 
Aaron Maple version is a dancefloor oriented version with more groove to play at peak time. He recorded new drums and a new bassline. And he reorganized the structure and played with samples but kept vocals in the core element of the song.
