If you ever wondered what it might be like to have a 707 or a Sampler instead of a pacemaker, you could always ask Valerio del Prete aka Delphi, who has been setting dancefloors around the world on fire for years. Delphi has displayed his mastery of acidized arpeggios and deep electronic tropes via an EP on Pigna, before linking up with Roman techno don dada Marco Passarani as the discotech duo Tiger & Woods. Several EPs and two albums of stripped back disco on Editainment and Running Back encapsulate their winning approach – reimagined loops from heady discotheques mixed through the axis of Rome, Chicago and Detroit. In 2016 he released the house/Italo/EBM stomper Blue Tuesday on a split 12” on Tiger & Woods own label T&W Records. For this new release, the brilliant producer (half of tiger & woods we repeat) kicks off the show with the very Italo-discoïde "donuts for dinner", nourished throughout by a monstrous kick and soaring synths. He poses as a worthy heir to the Italian masters of 80s pop who often used the B-side of their songs to experiment with their most adventurous ideas. Zequenz immediately made us think of an imaginary orgy between Ron Hardy and the members of Kraftwerk, this sound is incredibly sharp and would not have denoted on the decks of the legendary DJ. Which leads us straight to the most brawling track on the EP, the aptly named "Ron's lesson" and it is indeed a lesson. This crazy track (obviously dedicated to the legendary chicago DJ) seems to have come straight out of an imaginary session, we must remember how much at that time naivety and therefore distortion (!) Reigned over productions, giving an incredibly raw and edgy side on the dancefloor. Again, this song could have been released 30 years ago. And finally, to come full circle, the very graceful overheat joins the aesthetic of the first track in an elegant and dreamy way. Delphi "Clutch Play" (SKYLAX 153)

Counterfly’s EP called Èlapimpish is the protagonist of the 14th release of the young, yet rich Apparel Tronic’s catalogue. The experimental imprint is proud to present this incredibly variegated work by the Italian producer (real name Lorenzo Olivieri) who delivers the most musically complete record of his short career. Èlapimpish is a masterly blended mixture of sounds and genres: from the UKB/Techy vibes of “Malapimpish” to the Jazzy/glitchy experimentations of “Consolation” and the more rhythmic “The Lobby”, the eerie atmospheric beats of the title track, the warmer and meeker energy of “No One In The Field” and “Flare”, with its smooth yet firm piano and its spacey vocals. "Everybody In is thrilled to start 2022 in dark mode with the sounds by St. Petersburg artist Alexey Sergeevich a.k.a. Nightdrive and his new EP ‘Inamoto’. Alexey graduated in accordion and moved into producing relatively recently in 2015. He has been particularly active in producing several dozen releases, cassettes and vinyl records for many labels worldwide.

The opener ‘Inamoto’ is a micro-house experiment that drives you into the 80's synth-pop era and goes even further, phasing patterns and melodic minimalism. Its resonant computer drums propel into the action of organic expressionism, rising into flight from its dusty origins.

‘Ray’ was born as a solo pad exercise, then evolved as a tech-house track. A beam piercing the clouds, imbuing an analog static with a synthetic expansive ambient sound.

The Ep closer ‘Arps’ is a techno banger doing much more, a transcontinental flight, a track that takes us to Manchester’s old-school rave parties on the outskirts of the capitals.

Classic Me has been producing off the radar for over a decade, and it’s with pride that LAN gives the German artist a spotlight for the first time.


‘Cycles’ is an eleven track exploration into the ways classical, house music and its adjacent genres play off one another. Unsurprisingly for an artist with experience playing the violin, the album leads both in tracklist and concept with cinematic strings, which then soar into groovy basslines and slouchy kicks.


Classic Me’s confidence in production is levelled by spontaneity in the recording process (sometimes casually recording from a tablet on the go). Mastered in Paris by engineer Marine Benabou, the result is an interesting balance between play and perfection: though many of the tracks hint at J Dilla or Moodyman with their suggestions of tape loops and sampling, the orchestration uses hyperreal acoustics to bring echoes of Daft Punk, millennial Chemical Brothers and French touch back into the mix. 


It’s this tying together of classical influences with dance music’s more classic elements - hip-hop melodies, deep house vocals, funk basslines and the brightness of disco - which make up the unique sound of Classic Me. Each track turns a different face of the prism toward the listener, weaving an album that is cinematic and wistful without losing sight of its groove.

Acid house label Chicago Bee will release the compilation ‘Home Listening - Acid & House’ on 7 November, on vinyl and digitally. 

The vision for the ‘Home Listening' compilation album was to create a collection of tracks that complement each other and are fitting for repeated home listening. Being somewhat of a conceptual experiment, all the artists on the album were asked to imagine fusing Acid and House with the Virtualsex LP which was released on Buzz in 1993. A 303 sound would be welcomed but not essential with an emphasis on soulful emotion and melody.   

Some of the artists are people who label boss Mark Churcher (aka A-Eno-Acid) has struck up a relationship with since starting Chicago Bee and some targeted deliberately as Mark thought they would be able to hit the brief. The project threw up many interesting results with some artists drifting outside of their normal comfort zone! Artists featured include Derek Carr, Type 303, Fear-E, Forgotten Corner, and label boss A-Eno-Acid. 

From Finland, Dan Kaipio has become a versatile and prolific artist over recent years and this is his second appearance on Chicago Bee. With EP releases on the popular I Love Acid and Downfall Recordings labels to his name, he’s no mug. He nails a vintage acid sound with his track, ’Stairway To Jupiter’.
