The Verge of Sanity – the remarkable new EP from hotly-tipped Danish producer, electronic live act and label head Nandu – will be released on Friday, August 27 via his burgeoning young imprint, Out Of Options.

Featuring three brand new original cuts spanning some of the very finest avant-garde interpretations of minimal house, melodic techno and stripped back electronica, The Verge Of Sanity is another veritable masterclass in intelligent, cutting edge electronic music from the in-form, Copenhagen-based producer, who returns to Out of Options armed with a slew of impressive career releases on the likes of Innervisions, Afterlife, TAU, Exit Strategy, Azzur, Rebirth and MoBlack, to name just a few.
Christening the EP with the absorbing title track The Verge Of Sanity, Nandu draws on his inexorable experience and unbridled creativity as a producer to deliver a strikingly nuanced underground house cut, replete with complex analogue textures, multifaceted rhythms and a chugging groove that bolsters the opener across its six-minute duration. Penetrating the imagination with his mind-altering tones and exemplary use of juxtaposition and surprise, this is Nandu at his very best.

Perpetually striving to deliver an unmatched sensory experience for the listener – both in his productions and his unique live performances – Nandu revels in the blurring of boundaries between genres, reimagining his close affinity for jazz, pop and rock within a uniquely electronic paradigm. The middle order of the EP is further testament to this, as the Dane unravels a rich tapestry of complex underground soundscapes, restrained beats and rough sonic patterns on the second offering No One Knows.

Drawing the EP to an immaculate conclusion with a dreamy, remedial finale, Nandu demonstrates his productions credentials aren’t exclusive to the dancefloor, as he embarks upon an almost therapeutic journey through consciousness to bring us Silence. Collaborating with Danish-Haitian artist Emily Simbi (who featured on Nandu’s inaugural EP on Out Of Options back in March), the pair amalgamate organic melodies and lethargic beats with gentle timbres and Emily’s subtle vocal refrains to wrap another remarkable release on Out Of Options, and one of the most captivating releases on the label to date.

The Verge of Sanity marks the third full-length EP on Out Of Options, following the critically acclaimed release of Nandu’s Lemon Haze EP in March 2021 and his sophomore follow up Simple Reflections EP in May.

Midnight Operators is back with a fresh release by young talent Time To Sleep. Karlo Pavlović is an electronic music producer from Pula, Croatia. Growing up with his father's music in various genres of music ranging from trip hop to noise, Karlo infuses his own melancholic, and at the same time happy sound into his productions, not being overly obsessed with genre definitions. One day he might even make some jazz. 

The release is including a very special collaboration with @localsuicide and two fantastic remixes by one of our favorite Mexican duos @zombiesinmiami and lovely producer @tony-mukke. The release is exclusively available in Bandcamp.

August marks Swiss duo Animal Trainer’s debut full release on Berlin’s mobilee with a new EP entitled ‘Yumala’.

When not running their club Hive in Zurich, Animal Trainer aka Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson have had a string of impressive releases on renowned labels such as My Favourite Robot, Stil Vor Talent and Katermukke, not to mention their own imprint Hive Audio. Their fusion of tech-driven, slow-rave club anthems and impassioned, vocal led house has earned them hard-won recognition across Europe’s club circuit.

Kicking off with our Debut Transmission, the energy-fuelled ‘Yumala’ that demonstrates Animal Trainer’s trademark slow- rave style, the cut blends together punchy bass stabs and murky synth drones building up to powerful chord streaks, heightened further by patterned sonic notes and chattering hi-hats. ‘Function None’ then provides an equally club-driven, energetic number yet with darker tones dominated by ominous, hypnotic vocals to round off the package in a thoroughly compelling style.

Get Physical co-founders M.A.N.D.Y continue to rework and remix their recent LP ‘Double Fantasy’ LP, this time round it’s ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which gets two interpretations from the duo and another from Gerd Janson. 
Up first on the package and premiered here is the ‘Rework’ version of ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which sees M.A.N.D.Y deliver a smooth and melodious take on the original, laying down seven minutes of metallic percussive chimes, rumbling subs and emotive string melodies. Gerd Janson steps up to follow, turning ‘Rabbit Mountain’ into an acid frenzy with squelching 303 bass licks acting as the driving force whilst shuffled rhythms and the original’s bell sounds ebb and flow throughout. Lastly M.A.N.D.Y deliver another mix to close the package, this time round entitled the ‘8 AM Version’ and as the name would suggest it’s aimed at those euphoric early morning moments on dance floors, doused with dreamy atmospherics and emotive string progressions.

The reflective and psychedelic dream world of Footprintz debut LP ‘Escape Yourself’ is fully unleashed on the Visionquest imprint this March and next single ‘Uncertain Change’ is one of the twelve glowing examples of the duos’ esteemed sonic and lyrical wonder. Reworked here by two of dance music’s finest auteurs, Audion aka Matthew Dear and Maceo Plex ride in full effect.

With a distinct coming of age theme, ‘Uncertain Change’ is a perfect slice of dreamy synth-pop. Anchored by a powerful bassline, uplifting melodies inflected with new wave nostalgia blend into softly spoken vocals heavy with melancholy as the underlying sense of what it feels like to be young and unsure is ever present. Warped electric guitar strums add to a creeping darkness, but this is kept at bay by an overriding warmth and depth of soul that filters through. ‘Uncertain Change’ will transport the listener to an age of innocence.

The ‘Maceo Plex Reconception’ is endowed with the producers signature swing. Tailored for the disco, skipping pendulum beats and a heavier bass beat underpin the in tact phrasing of the original song leading up to a breakdown and powerful bassline drop.

In The ‘Audion Loves You Mix’ Mathew Dear in his Audion guise deconstructs the song and pieces it back together with an entirely transformative minimal tapestry of sounds. An epic reimagining of sparse electronic bleeps and warped vocals build into a majestic framework of fizzing tension and textured soundscapes. Ultimately remnants of the original melody fuse with Audion’s epic groove as the track surges towards an optimistic end.
