The new year calls for the return of the deep minded dub master Onium to the Harmonious Discord label. A core part of the label sound engine, Onium has showcased an impressive evolution adding depth and precision with every project. The Recombinant EP represents peak levels of the mastery for this artist and we are happy to bring in Puresine, Space Scavengers, and Floating Machine in support of this very special frosty project.

Never one to start with flair, Onium guides use gently into a sonically rich tapestry called “Dubsect”. Rumbling bass trios and perfectly controlled synth accents sit in even space in this expertly timed introduction. Puresine enters next to navigate Dubsect into dance floor territory, upping the pace and introducing edgier elements. The introduction of frosted chord stabs and devilish bass responses targets this remix for late night territories as it moves ever-forward with intensity. Our next original is a collaboration between Onium and Greek duo Space Scavengers. Stepping back from the intensity in the previous Puresine remix “Shimmer and Shine” is a beautifully tempered slow burn. Complete with dancing pad interplays and screaming background textures this selection gives the shimmer of a very profound elevated experience. On remix duties for “Shimmer and Shine” is the multi-talented KiloWatts. Instead of reduxing and remixing the original, KiloWatts breaks down each shade and builds them all back up in this sexy space opera that sits somewhere between breaks and techno. Point of Balance pairs Onium with Puresine in a very characteristic amalgam of their respective sounds. Brighter than your average Onium piece but still tempering and controlling all aspects methodically. Floating Machine plunges right into the depths with his often aquatic, silky textures. A revision of the original that crosses purposes between techno relevance and deep house philosophy.

Harmonious Discord Recordings has been the purveyor of offbeat melodies for DJ’s and producers “in-the-know” for over 20 years. Founded in 2001 by Moon Magnet productions front men Sean Anderson, Brad Denton, and David Brown; HD’s aim has been to provide a musical outlet for artists that continue to defy convention at every opportunity. Harmonious Discord’s name was devised to represent a collective rebellion against the sea of mediocre and brainless music polluting the airwaves. Its motto “Cacophony at its Finest” displays the contrast of what some view as noise (or cacophony) and what others view as music. The beauty of music is that it is subjective and the brilliance lies with the listener. We have strived in our 10 year run to combine the innovative and legendary sounds of Jazz and the new and basic sounds of the tech revolution, which is represented in our logo (a martini glass w/ sprocket).

Originally a vinyl only media Harmonious Discord released its first vinyl record in January of 2002 with a premier release by two of Harmonious Discords home-based artists; Ahman (David Brown) and newly added artist Litex (Eric Reeves). The project received warm regards but did not make a huge splash in the electronic music community. It wasn’t till their second release, a techy offbeat two tracker by Austin native Merrick Brown, that HD was written into the books of dance music history. The second release was canned by DJ notables from all over the world and quickly rose to the top of the balance chart. In 2003 we saw another huge hit with the release of Grey’s first HD release titled “Naughty Glances” and the floor filling remix by Seattle’s own Jacob London. The vinyl only production continued until 2007 when Harmonious Discord decided to embrace the digital revolution and joined forces with Beatport, the industries leader in digital distribution. Many years later our family has grown to encompass artists like Chakaharta and Patchen Preston who have forged a solid foundation using Harmonious Discord as their main production outlet. Harmonious Discord has forged onward with digital releases that span multiple genre’s and showcase some of the most forward thinking artists in today’s electronic music landscape.

Stanislav Tokarev Assatiani ‘Stasik T’ was born in Nalchik, Russia in 1985, later at the age of 5 he moved to Mexico City, and it is the point from which he started in the musical world from the age of 13 years old, when he studied at ‘Escuela Superior de Música’ or Superior Musical School, learning about all those elements from musical theory, as well as piano classes and transverse flute, but later on his path of life changes a little bit in 2001, when he meets electronic music thanks to his older brother and with the help of artistic trends such as Psychedelic Trance, Progressive House and Trance included, mainly taking inspiration from Pink Floyd, John Digweed and Sasha to name a few; and so with this path Stasik decided to learn how to become a Disc Jockey.

After many years of training, practice and gathering knowledge, Stasik began his professional career in 2005 as a DJ when he applied for a national competition from an independent agency with another friend and DJ of his ‘The Mind/Mindmusik’ Rodrigo Márquez, with the privilege of winning it, together they Warmed Up for the international artists from Trance: Menno de Jong and The Thrillseekers.

During this gig they immediately got spotted by one of the producers of the event, and he offered them a weekly residency at the ‘Ktdral’ Club in Mexico City, and after a short time they started ‘The Lifeline Collective’ alongside ‘Puuc’ Rafael Navarro, another great DJ, and so they went on playing at many different places in the city, such as the now deceased Continental DJ Club sharing the DJ booth with important national artists like Fernando Calvillo, Alain & Gudiño, G-Mind and Carlos G; in addition they played at Bar House, Hookah Lounge and Hookah Darhom, Hookah from Satelite, Dobby Club, Aggressor, Underground, Liverpool 100, Club Terraza Uroboros, and several more, together and in a separate way.

Also, Stasik has shared the DJ Booth with international artists such as Lee Burridge, Simon & Shaker, Francis Davila, Jeff Bennett; and more recently 2011 and 2012 Stasik did Warm Up’s for Pole Folder at Habita Hotel, Darren Emerson and Carlo Lio at Premier Club (former Roots Club), and as well as for Oliver Lieb at Hookah Lounge from Condesa.

Mixing the sounds from the ranges and likes of Deep, Funky, Vocal, Minimal, Tech, Progressive and Techno, making it a hybrid and unique style, Stasik likes to manage the way of defying the many genres and styles, and not only be pigeonholed in one. Quality, simplicity and the special touch are the elements that matter in his gigs and presentations.

Nowadays, finally after releasing in 2010 his debut EP entitled “Pathology Of Nature” at the label ‘CE Records’, Stasik is working on music in his own way giving it the shape he desires, as well as paving the way for his future to reach the best quality in his original productions and his mixing skills, always improving at the decks with exceptional character.

Stasik currently has under his belt several original productions in labels as BC2 Records, Massive Harmony Records, Incepto Music, Abstract Space Records, CE Records, Tenebrae, Stripped Digital and XOOD Records, and has co-worked with various artists such as Mindmusik, Puuc, Vladd, Henry CE, Mayak, Enrique Calvetty, Keinke, Nathan Jo, and Hugo Ibarra.
