Futurepast mix 12 is a finely crafted collage of contemporary ambient gems and more unexpected oldies from an influential character of Brussels techno scene.

Having recently launched his own label efja, he is known, with his partners of the Metropolis crew, to be the ambassador of a richly textured sound, focused on progressive grooves and immersive textures.

Firmly based on solid references such as the timeless collaboration between Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, this mix features atmospheric sceneries and polar waves as well as skeletal rhythms and liquid dubs.

"Saebius (@saebiusmusic), the mysterious Marseille based young talent draws on a wide range of stylistic influences from Radiohead to Monolake. It led him to produce his own ambient and techno sound based on atmospheres and rhythms.  After 6 years experimenting sound design he finally released his first promising EP in 2017 on Lowless called Water Memories. He received good support from the scene. It was the occasion to share for the first time his singular hypnotic and melancholic signature. His second appearance on the label as remixer in the Four Sides of Orithyia released in November 2018. This offered him more visibility and support from actors like the respected Monument media. It naturally drove him into some other projects in 2019/2020 with an EP release on Ritualism (@ritualism-records) and  his Lifeform LP on Agos Universe (@agardenofsound). In 2022 Saebius released "Lurk in The Water" for the famous compilation "Rhizome" on Lowless (@lowless-music) and a new album is already scheduled on this same label in 2023".

For this edition, Steffen Bennemann took a turn. Steffen is a DJ & producer from Germany that is well known among our partygoers. Besides that, he is a former curator of the favourite Nachtdigital festival & co-founder of Holger.

As he said himself, “I made a mix using material by one of my favourites - the whole mix is music by just one person. Don’t want to spoil the fun upfront, but I'm sure you'll recognize who I'm talking about."

Endurance @joshua-stefane is the ambient project of Canadian-born Joshua Stefane. Using modular synthesizers, field recordings, and cassette tapes, Endurance’s sound has become increasing minimal and tonally-focused over the years, employing a minimum of elements to create a maximum of expressiveness. In addition to releasing from labels such as Constellation Tatsu and Mystery Circles, Endurance also curates the Japan-based tape label Muzan Editions. As a live performer, he has appeared at numerous high-profile events such as Kyoto’s Star Festival, Tobira Records-run Extremely Cold Music Festival, Moment, and Scale, with an increasing emphasis on bringing deep ambient soundscapes to techno music parties.

Nuel is an italian DJ, live musician and producer who has a reputation for sculpting perfectly hypnotic and meditative sounds, he distills rhythm, groove and texture into powerful compositions that can be techno, can be ambient or can be trance inducing and wholly downtempo.
He does so to stunningly absorbing effect in LP form on labels like Further Records, but over the years he has also put out several Eps on a number of labels like Aquaplano, Latency, Kontra-Musik and Semantica. More recently Northern electronics has put out on vinyl a selection of his Toolkit, a previous digital self-release, while Midgar, Natch Records and Sublunar hosted his lalest contributions.

Growing up in one of the Netherlands' quieter nooks, @tammohesselink’s unwavering passion for music saw him spend countless hours of his youth in his attic, digging, researching and building up a profoundly deep knowledge and love of electronic music. Eventually, this singular passion lead Tammo out of his attic and into his local record store “Deeptrax”, where the guys behind the counter helped to refine his taste further, indoctrinating him to the sounds of Chicago, Detroit, Berlin and The Hague. Over time, Tammo very naturally found himself working at the store, where his taste continued to both deepen and expand, with a growing appreciation for a diverse range of sounds including UK-centred post-dubstep, leading to the distinctive, genre-bending approach he is known for today.

As a producer, Tammo has developed an outstanding body of work under a range of alias’ since the mid-2010’s, first releasing via his own imprint “The Invariants” before seeing his music published on famed Dutch platforms @delsinrecords and @nousklaeraudio in more recent years. Although there may be variations in sound and approach between his projects, one constant is a solid sense for warm, resonant groove which filters through the many aspects of his music - from light-hearted arpeggiated synths, to organic, intricately programmed percussion. 
Tammo carries this same quality into his DJ sets, which has enabled him to take the stage at events such as Breakfast Club and Dekmantel Selectors, and also to become a resident at the now sadly closed De School.

This rhythmically diverse mix for Patterns of Perception channels Tammo’s inimitable sound and musical insight, building from a deep, measured beginning, before gathering energy and momentum further into the mix. The result is a fiercely arresting 83 minutes of music that takes the listener on a winding narrative journey through varied and utterly compelling club music.

Record label + event series 

Since 2014, we organise site-specific, audiovisual events that are morphed by our hand into zones of sparkling joy and sonic enchantment.

We are passionately distributing vibration both on the dance floor and while pressing music on records, however, what we appreciate the most is the community that gathered around us over time. Without our friends and cooperating artists, it would be rather difficult to identify any spirit of the organisation.
