N.I.M PODCAST :: EP.84 [Ex.Hale]

We are thrilled to present for our podcast sessions Italian musician TITTA.  

TITTA starts his musical journey at the beginning of the nineties, hardcore and shoegaze being his first passions, soon after discovering electronic music, which brings him to perform in occupied houses and raves to end up in radios and clubs, becoming the co-founder of the label, radio show and cultural association General Elektric.  
At the end of the nineties he starts The Plug, first electro/techno nights in Turin, an event that is still taking place nowadays, where he has the opportunity to work with great artists of the time like Dj Hell , Adult, Anthony Rother, Superpitcher, Vitalic.
2000 he starts to explore different genres, creating one of the first italian netlabels, ToniMusic, which presents microhouse sounds, and founds COMADISCO, an electro/punk/wave band with a self-produced LP and an EP released on Irma Records.  
2008 he collaborates with Franco Cazzola, founder of Carnival Records, with whom he releases many vinyls on labels like Toys for boys, Upon you, Natural Rhythm, Material, Sleep is Commercial. 
2016 he starts to organise the events Techno Nights and MUSICAUTOMATICA in the infamous Bunker in Turin, inviting artists like djStingray, Donato Dozzy, Balance, Errorsmith, Marco Shuttle, Paula Temple.
 2018 he starts with mix engineer Maurizio Borgna the duo project DRANG, characterized by only modular synths and IDM sounds, which brings them to open for Helena Hauff at at Club to Club in Turin. 
Currently he is working on his solo project, doing live performances and with a ready EP soon out on the label TRST.

M A N I F E S T O

1. We protect the creators and their independence from limits or rules imposed by the industry. 

2. We also protect the listener by offering the work of creators without any information that can alter or taint a pure listening experience.

3. Innovation is not the goal. The goal is to grant the creator and the listener total freedom. However, innovation can be a positive side-effect of creating in an environment of total freedom.

4. The use of words to describe or define music is a senseless task. Most of the time the intention of descriptive text is not to shed light on the work of the artist, but rather to serve as a promotional tool to drive sales and increase recognition. This often has the unfortunate result of limiting the creator and his work and we do not accept this imposition of the industry.

 5.  Today, music or audio can be made available for listening without the need for explanatory text or any additional information about its creator.

6. This manifesto is created with the absolute certainty that there is an audience fully capable of discerning what music they want to acquire for their personal enjoyment without any superfluous contextual information other than what is provided by the music itself.

7. The music industry is based on labels, names, scenes and genres. The current boundaries are imposed by an industry that was created with the sole purpose of selling massive amounts of copies of an artist's work. Categorisation facilitates sales because it identifies or creates markets that can cater to a supply and demand model. It also imposes limits. Our goal is not to sell records and it is definitely not to enforce restraints. Our objective is to provide a safe, creative and completely anonymous platform for artists who want to share their work through a new paradigm. Selling records is a positive side-effect which ensures that the artist's music reaches the right ears.

Today in our program there is a live session recorded by Novosibirsk musician Roman Craft.
Roman is a designer and racer of RC boats. He teaches children everything he knows about this craft. Music fills his space as he works and travels. We asked Roman a few questions.
 
1. Which artist has influenced you the most? 
Shed is spinning most often on my turntable. I love his tunes. 
 
2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 
I would like to give an answer but on true we have a ridiculous number off EP, albums and tracks made in studio with a friends and it is all waiting for something. So, there are only plans but nothing more. In other hand I release my own music then I think it’s done instantly. First album has a great name “How Long Can You Go with Me” and this is all about it. 
 
3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 
Actress, STL, Mathew Jonson, Redshape, Donato Dozzy, Legowelt, Vril, Marco Shuttle, Grand River and Steffi, DIAL, Hanagasumi, Born Free records, Mistress Recordings, early L.I.E.S. records for sure. Sometimes it is hard to explore a relevant styles and genres of your own and somehow you focused only on really touching you tracks from the past. It’s made sense because of structure of your thoughts and feelings. They are all has been kept and stored in the head until you start doing something. I can say that I am old-fashioned person and this can be found in my music. 
 
4. What inspires you now to create music? 
All that music that I listen to. New gear for the studio experiments are inspires to. They inner mashine algorithms tells that to do, in particular moment they start to do all work instantly and independently without you.

The upward direction focuses on a brighter side of noise and hip hop inspirations, while keeping equally twisted and cartoony. The melodies are different, particularly Theme For Money Go Deli (a near four minute digital orchestra), but remain based in the rhythms and drums he's been playing in the daylight.
