Miguel Bastida’s (1984, Granada, Spain) career has been steadily going up since he started DJing with only 14 years old, in the local radio station of his hometown, Alhama de Granada.
Nowadays living in Barcelona, Miguel has become one of the most in-demand Spanish artists worldwide, due to his versatility, great musical selection and charisma dominating the dancefloor.

Miguel’s influences initially came from bands as The Prodigy or The Chemical Brothers, and also from harder styles, like hardtechno and breakbeats. Besides, he had one of South Spain’s electronic music strongholds close to home: Industrial Copera. There, DJs as Ben Sims or Cristian Varela left a huge impression on Bastida, who also looked up to artists such as Nathan Fake, James Holden or Alex Under, during the golden years of minimal techno.

Miguel already dominated the mixing craft when he turned 16. After his first nights out, the idea of music production started to come to his mind. Picturing sounds with each song he listened to, Bastida started gathering with friends with the same ideas and taste for music, setting up his first live sets, which finally led to the foundation of his first group: the electronic music band Raíz Electrónica (Electronic Roots). After that, and thanks to his self-taught practice, he managed to dominate his first production software, Reason, changing to Logic afterwards. Today, being his weapon of choice when creating beats. His love for machines is also well known, especially for Moog’s creations and MIDI controllers.

With his family support as mainstay, helping at the family’s business in the morning and focusing on the studio sessions during the afternoon, Miguel was able to dedicate himself to his great passion: the creation of tunes. Music production has been, without a question, what has taken Miguel Bastida where he is today. After years and years of being locked up in the studio, he managed to create his own, exclusive and uncompromised sound, whose turning point came in 2015, with the release of ‘Moudness’, a track that managed to stay up in the Top charts of platforms such as Beatport. Before that, he already managed to knock on the doors of heavyweights as Umek and his 1605 platform. Then Sébastien Leger’s Mistakes Music came, followed by Mark Knight’s Toolroom; Deeperfect; Trapez, elrow Music; Marc Marzenit’s Paradigma Music; Dubfire’s Sci-Tec; and most recently, Suara, demonstrating all the styles he dominates. Today his productions can be found in the selections of artists such as Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Luciano, John Acquaviva or Leger, Dubfire or Umek themselves.

As DJ, Miguel Bastida belongs to the exclusive group of Spanish DJs that has had the chance of touring around the world, presenting his repertoire in almost every country in the planet, from Australia and New Zealand to electronic music strongholds as New York and Chicago. His name can also be found on the line-ups of the world’s best clubs and festivals, managing to convince even the most demanding dancefloors of the scene.

Self-taught and entrepreneur, Bastida’s projects ended up naturally in the creation of his own label, Be One Records, that he manages along two of his childhood friends. Bastida is in charge of the A&R, while his buddies in Berlin and Granada manage design and social networks duties. Recently they created a sub-label, dedicated to support and give a chance to young and upcoming talents of the electronic music scene.

Be it as groove creator, selector or supporter of new talents with his label, Miguel Bastida is a safe bet for any record label, festival or venue that seeks to tear up their dancefloors.

HartzKi is the production moniker of Hull based DJ; Simon Hart. A fully adopted Northerner, he moved to Hull in the late 90's where he fell in love with the thriving music scene in the city. He earned his stripes the old school way - running his own mobile disco at the age of 13 in deepest darkest Somerset, through the commercial scene in seaside towns, and even a 2 year stint as a presenter on local radio where he was told he was 'too Radio One for them'.  He took it as a compliment..... Swimming against the tide of chart music and middle-of-the-road mediocrity, Simon upped sticks, and went where the music was..... 

A regular at nights such as The Onion Club, Simon's love of house, funk and acid jazz, evolved into a love of techno where he became involved with the legendary Mantra, playing at the now infamous Hutt St parties and spending far too much time at Orbit. An ever-present at Room, Simon championed the Big Beat sound in Hull forming Beatamax, hosting some of the most sought after back-room spots for Rewind, Eat Your Words and Deja Vu. He's had residencies across the city; appearing at Room, Rhythm Room, Welly, Lamp, Revolution; playing at at Mantra, Rewind, Lojik, Tabloid, Funkarama (Eat Your Words), Superstars, Indian Summer (London) and Hull's premier House night; Deja Vu - not to mention opening the Dance Tent at the Helmsley Farmyard Festival 5 years running.....

His tastes are anything with punchy rhythm, solid grooves... music you should feel to the bones, that gets the heart pumping, the hairs standing and the hips moving.

Been there, seen it, done it, got the t-shirt, sent it back, ordered a larger one - sharing flyer space with Sonique, Lee Coombs, Rob Tissera, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Different Language, Anne Savage & Danny Howells to name a few, and taking influences from DJs and producers such as Depeche Mode, Jeff Mills, CJ Bolland, Underworld, Sasha, Fila Brazilia, Propellerheads, Nellee Hooper, Steve Lawler, Tenaglia ..... he has gathered a huge love, back catalogue and knowledge of the dance scene with the scars to match....

Giving one big finger to trends, genres and mediocrity has been Mason’s mantra for over twenty years. His studio creations and energy behind the decks are a direct reflection of this personality. Equal parts groove, melody and eccentricity the Dutchman avoids jumping on electronic music bandwagons at all costs. “I could make club music fodder all day, but that would just bore me shitless. I like to challenge myself and my audience a bit more than that!” says Mason on his production ethos. 

There aren’t too many producers out there capable of making credible underground bangers and radio friendly hits simultaneously but Mason is surely one of them. With a palette borrowed from formative years immersed in hip-hop, house, electro, funk and disco there are no rules to his musical alchemy. Its really just about having fun and avoiding the usual clichés of the scene. 

In the mid-nineties the young Mason had started to DJ, albeit from humble beginnings. He’s proud of an early residence in a seedy Amsterdam dive where off duty hookers and various freaks gathered to dance in the early hours. It certainly gave the rookie DJ a chance to hone his skills in front of a very tough crowd. Fast-forward a few decades and the unassuming Dutch producer/DJ is fulfilling his ambitions through creating music and playing clubs and festivals in over 50 countries and counting... 

You may know Mason from his breakout single back in 2007 (‘Exceeder’), yet he would be the first to tell you that things have moved on a hell of a lot since those times. In only the last two years he’s had releases on respected labels such as Island Records, Defected, Kittball, Sweat It Out, Skint and Bunny Tiger. Mason’s ‘Rhino’ was one of the tunes of last summer, which became a BBC Radio 1 'Hottest Record In The World'. 

There have been two fully-fledged artist albums by Mason, featuring a plethora of guest artists. He’s so far managed to persuade the likes of Roisin Murphy, The Noisettes, Aqualung and Jocelyn Brown to join him. Even hip-hop royalty the like of Daryl “DMC” McDaniels, Kurtis Blow and Sway have found themselves on Mason records. More recent partners in crime include Stefflon Don and The Manor. 

Then there’s his own label, Animal Language; a musical menagerie for Mason’s weird and wonderful creations. This is usually music that is just too damn strange and obnoxious for most labels out there. The Animal Language boys tend to celebrate by throwing weird and wonderful guerilla raves in strange spaces. They are drunken guided tours hosted in unfashionable bars, empty stores and even buses. The so-called ‘Animal Language Raves’ have become legend on the word of mouth party scene in Amsterdam. They are very messy affairs. 

To say this boy is prolific is a bit of an understatement. There have been scores of singles released since that one tune dropped over a decade ago. Beatport number 1’s, BBC Radio playlists, Hollywood movie features and numerous TV ads. 

This year sees Mason ramp up his activities with world-renowned collaborators. Already in the can is a club banger featuring UK and US top 10 vocalist Alex Clare. In the short term he will showcase new output via imprints such as Skint, Spinnin’ Deep and his second single for Island Records. 

In what is becoming a very trend driven, genre specific world Mason constantly strives against the norm by creating music on his own terms. He pays no heed to what this month’s current media darlings are dropping nor does he wear a baseball cap or have full sleeve tattoos either. What Mason does have is a unique vibe and ‘fuck you’ attitude to making music that is infectious and refreshing.

Jay C is no stranger to being at the forefront of the House Scene.A seven year Global resident for the Worlds #1 Ibiza club/brand SPACE taught him his craft. Throughout this time Jay C has worked tirelessly to become the seriously respected producer that he is today.
