Harvey McKay starts his next single using a killer vocal hook and heavy-duty synth stabs to full effect, conjuring up more of Harvey’s unique style with ‘Silk Road’. The second track ‘Slip’ uses ghostly pads that float over the top of a crisp, chuggy kick drum combining two different qualities before welcoming the percussive synth blips into the mix. The third and final track ‘Start Running’ is chuggy and uses a mesmerising bass loop to draw a dancefloor in. The vocal stabs sit nicely on top before the lead vocal gives the track character and definition.

ANT056 - Alpha -Kalden Bess Long running Italian techno label Analytictrail serves up a new EP from one of their regular artists in the form of Kalden Bess. His four originals come backed with a remix from the ever-busy Luigi Madonna. Bess has been crafting electronic music since 2008 in his native Montreal. In the years since he has gained props from the likes of Gary Beck, Pig & Dan and Jerome Sydenham and his dirty, sexy techno has come on labels like Drumcell and his own Ground Factory Records. Attention grabbing opening track Alpha is a prime techno cut with heavy, thumping kicks, walls of percussion and a booming voice beaming down like a dark force from outer space. For his part, Luigi Madonna of labels like Drumcode and Plus 8 strips things back to a more spaced-out and rolling techno groove with sheet metal synths spiralling around the pumping drums. The perfectly produced Unstoppable is just that a monolithic stomper with closely stacked drums, paranoid synth lines and a crescendo of hi hats & vocal FX that trap you right at the centre of the whole monstrous affair. You can really see this one commanding dancefloors in large clubs or bleak warehouses alike, with crowds unable to do anything but stomp in its presence. Invisible is a more syncopated techno kicker that seems to rock on its heels. Razor sharp hi hat ringlets churn in large cycles and again distant, muffled voices suggest you arent alone in the midst of this domineering rhythm. Last but by no means least, No Kings is a percolating, ever simmering affair with industrial textures and apocalyptic synths all working together in controlled chaos. If big room techno is your thing, you are unlikely to find tracks as inescapably groovy and arresting as these anywhere else this year.

All three tracks on this EP were actually made for the Âme live show, but at the end it turned out that we used them in our DJ sets too. 
Due to the great feedback we decided to put them on a 12-inch accompanying the Âme Live CD. Karl Hyde and James Lavelle on one 12-inch should be something for a lad's paradise and even 'Enoi' sounds brighter than before.

--------------------------------------- DIE GESCHICHTE ZUM SET ---------------------------------------------------------

Es war einmal ein wirklich mutiger Held. Er hatte schon viele Schlachten geschlagen, Ungeheuer getötet, Jungfrauen befreit und schon oft die Welt gerettet. Eine seiner wichtigsten Aufgaben war es, alle 100 Jahre das Drachenei zu finden, aus dem ein Drache schlüpfte, der dann regelmäßig die Welt auf eine Weise vor dem Untergang bewahrte, die der Held leider nicht beherrschte. Vielleicht sollte man noch erwähnen, dass er ein Held der Sorte war, die  furchtbar stark sind, über Jahrhunderte leben, aber keine Magie besitzen, wie zum Beispiel Drachen sie haben.
 
So machte unser mutige Held sich auf, um das Drachenei zu suchen. Es war das Jahr  
0.5671 2, das uns sicher allen bekannt ist. Eflried erfand den tragbaren CD-Player, Dr. Jekyll Ostern und Mrs. Therafyl die Neurose. Also ein sehr wichtiges Jahr.
 
Wo war ich stehengeblieben? Ach ja, der Held machte sich auf, um das Ei zu finden. Er suchte Tag und Nacht, denn er musste sich beeilen, damit das Ei nicht Dr. Evil in die Klauen fiel. Er suchte und suchte, guckte hinter jeden Busch und unter jede Henne, aber da waren nur Hühnereier. 

Eines besonders schönen Tages kletterte er auf den größten und fast- unbezwingbaren- Berg. Da bemerkte er ein Funkeln im Augenwinkel und - tatsächlich! Dort, zwischen den Felsen, lag das Drachenei! Diesmal war es purpurrot mit einigen Goldflecken. Er kletterte hinüber und nahm es. Da erschien plötzlich Dr. Evil (mit einem tragbaren CD-Player im Gürtel) und so kämpften sie 30 Tage lang auf dem Berg. 

Halb tot flüchtete unser Held und schleppte sich gerade noch zu dem Nest, wo das Ei schlüpfen sollte. Vorsichtig legte er es ins Nest und wartete. Nichts passierte. Er fluchte und versuchte, die Blutung seiner Wunde zu stoppen. Er würde seinen Arm wohl verlieren. 

Als er das Ei schon zerschlagen wollte, erschien plötzlich ein kleiner Hase neben ihm. "Was willst du hier, Kaninchen?" wollte er schlecht gelaunt wissen. 

"Oh, ich wollte mein Ei abholen! Da hab ich es so schön versteckt und du nimmst es einfach weg!" 

Der Held war empört. "Dein Ei? Das ist mein Drachenei!" 
"Ja klar! Natürlich ist das mein Ei, ich habs doch dahin gelegt! Ich bin nämlich der Osterhase und das ist ein Osterei. Da kann nichts draus schlüpfen, das Ei ist doch gekocht!" 

"Ach so..." Der Held war verunsichert. "Und was tu ich jetzt?" 
Der Hase überlegte kurz. "Komm doch zu mir, ein paar Schokoladenhasen essen und Tee trinken..." 

"Aber... ich muss doch das Drachenei finden und die Welt retten." 
"Quatsch mann. Komm einfach zu mir!" 

Der Held war immer noch unsicher. "Aber dann geht die Welt doch unter." 
Der Hase zuckte mit den Schultern. "Ist doch egal. Lass es einfach hier liegen, merkt schon keiner!" 

Unser Held dachte angestrengt nach. "Das... das geht aber nicht!" 
"Wieso?" fragte der Hase erstaunt. 

"Naja...", meinte der Held, "von so ein paar kleinen Schokohasen werd ich doch nicht satt. Wenn du ein paar Zutaten hast, mach ich Apfeltaschen." 

"Oh, klasse!" rief der Osterhase. 
So gingen die beiden zum Osterhasen Apfeltaschen essen und Tee trinken.

Deshalb mögen Hasen also Apfeltaschen so gerne und wenn der Held nicht verblutet ist, so leben sie noch heute glücklich und zufrieden... und hören Musik und essen Apfeltascehn bis die Welt untergeht!
