This year we have reached our long-term goal as a label which was to expand our releases into the wax department. We feel like we’ve done a good job bringing upcoming and original local talent to the surface so far and it is only fitting that our first vinyl release is done by the Icelandic duo https://soundcloud.com/davidhjalti. The duo has been busy with the production since their arrival from Manchester and have played a number of great live sets underlining their skills as producers. We feel that this release is the high standard we set ourselves before going vinyl and that this is just a small first step in a fruitful beginning for the producers David & Hjalti. The release features four excellent tracks which showcases terrific sampling work.

Broken beat and jazz keys sound tasty! Here's your head chef, Fred Bwelle AKA Neue Grafik. The friendly-faced Parisian has been brewing quite the rep of late, travelling broadly (Europe/Australia) with the likes of Bradley Zero and Prequel as well as dropping records via Rhythm Section, 22a and Wolf Music.

With quite the cocktail of influences to call on, be it his African heritage, French youth or big love of London sounds, Grafik has many a tale to tell. The latest body of work, 'I Miss Something / Bed Stuy's Mood' is one lovely hybrid, featuring some choice remixes from Danvers, EVM 128, NameBrandSound and Xtra Brux. Brought to us by the crew at CoOP Presents, Fred's next pass, is in a word...tight! As N.G explains 'This EP is a personal vision of the broken beat scene and my love for that. A meeting with artists who build my own taste, with friends keeping the same vibrancy and desire for this music'.

The title track 'I Miss Something', is a gorgeous breeze. Immediately, we're introduced to some of the crispiest snares ever programmed, along with a peppering of synthesized keys and dulcet piano. You've arranged to meet the girl of your dreams at your favourite jazz bar, you enter, there she sits looking flawless. It's this tune that's spilling from the speakers. Thanks be to you Neue Grafik. Keep delivering refined dance such as this!

Shamal Wind, the celebrated second album by UK flautist and sax player Chip Wickham gets revisited by three producers cooler than the other side of the pillow, hailing from London and Berlin. Max Graef, Reginald Omas Mamode IV, and Ishmael Ensemble get their hands on the tracks of one of the jazz albums of the year and come up with four epic remixes!

‘Rebel No.23’ gets renamed ‘(Soul) Rebel 23’ by 22a’s Reginald Omas Mamode IV, referencing Bob Marley in an exquisitely soulful and fuzzy rework featuring Reginald’s own added vocals.

Harvey Sutherland, the Melbourne-born record producer, keyboard player, club DJ and bandleader, made a name amongst his hometown’s electronic underground with a string of cult dance singles. Early 12-inches like ‘Bermuda’ and ‘Priestess’ were records in love with classic soul and disco, but his debut album ‘Boy’ was guided by his obsessional traits and habits, ending up in a place he describes as “Neurotic Funk”. 

Boy has seen widespread acclaim since its release, with Resident Advisor noting “[his] sense of musicality has always been head and shoulders above his peers...his songs are full-blooded and fleshed-out…” His latest material is an exercise in techno minimalism — laser-focused club jams like ‘Hummingbird’ and ‘Nobody Like U’ set the stage for Harvey’s next chapter. 

His machine grooves are fired through a prism of crate-digging influences, from Todd Rundgren to Basic Channel and back again. His distinctive synthesiser tones have graced remixes and production for Disclosure, Khruangbin, Genesis Owusu and BadBadNotGood. A seasoned performer, he’s taken his live band to Glastonbury, dragged his Juno-60 into Berghain and turned the Melbourne Recital Centre into a full-fledged nightclub. Eclectic and groovy, Harvey Sutherland is Neurotic Funk.
