Now, he makes a banging return to the label, presenting his new, „Wet Floor EP,“ a testament to his ability to construct ambitious grooves and solidify his position as a producer.

This EP takes you on a musical journey through three catchy and carefully crafted tracks. It blends techno vibes with rap influences, creating a dynamic and infectious sound. Chris Flannigan is part of the upcoming wave of contemporary DJs and producers focused on fast yet groove-driven productions which predominantly pay homage to the golden era of techno. Influenced by this sound, accompanied by tribal and loop-centred elements that can be heard in his output Chris has gained a significant degree of notoriety amongst his peers releasing alongside the likes of Chlär, Alarico and D.A.V.E The Drummer. His productions have built a steady rapport globally with his music being played in America, Australia and across Europe while even gaining playtime within the confines of Berghain in Berlin.

Currently based in Belfast, Ireland, Chris has performed various headline shows across Ireland and the UK, where he has supported industry heavyweight Daria Kosolova. Not to mention making his American debut in New York earlier this year. This is a result of his dedication to production where recent label releases include Disintegrated, PHTM, Laburnum Records and Orbital Oscillation with an eclectic mix of track releases that can also be heard on Soundcloud.

PREMIERE: Deaf Toucan – Amersfoort Express [RYS20]

Backspin's next release brings Selective Response, a prominent figure in America's techno scene, to the forefront with his Inner Heaven EP. Known for his hard-hitting techno rollers, he brings his expertise and passion to Backspin, delivering a release that aligns seamlessly with the label's mission to rejuvenate the Hardgroove sound of the early 2000s, blending releases of legendary pioneers with those of fresh talents.  The EP opens with Hells Bells, a doomy track that encapsulates Selective Response's signature style, featuring relentless rhythms and an underworldly bell theme. The title track Inner Heaven follows, offering a, contrasting atmosphere, blending ethereal elements with driving beats to explore the balance between intensity and tranquility. On the flip side, Power Hungry delivers a potent mix of pulsating basslines, sharp percussion and industrial elements, embodying the raw energy that defines the Hardgroove genre. The EP concludes with Purifier, a track more in line with the EP’s title track, merging driving loops with intricate sound design, leaving listeners in a state of ecstatic trance.
